Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to take full ownership of the backend financial, bookkeeping, and operational systems across a portfolio of businesses. This includes overseeing all financial workflows, compliance, and day-to-day operations for a group of companies and personal holdings — including Something Green, Freddy’s Supermarkets, Butchers Gallery, and other affiliated entities.

The ideal candidate is not only an expert bookkeeper but also a strategic leader with a strong background in the retail sector — particularly in food and multi-location operations. You must be comfortable building and optimizing financial systems, identifying inefficiencies, and proactively driving improvements. This role requires a hands-on approach to both tactical execution and long-term strategy.

You will report directly to the owner and act as a key partner in maintaining financial health, scalability, and operational performance across all entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Accounting & Bookkeeping
    • Maintain day-to-day bookkeeping for multiple entities using QuickBooks
    • Manage accounts payable/receivable, including vendor payments and collections
    • Reconcile bank, credit card, and merchant accounts across business and personal entities
    • Oversee intercompany allocations and shared cost tracking
    • Generate monthly financial statements ( P&L , Balancesheets )  and manage the monthly/quarterly close process
  • Cash Flow Management
    • Track real-time cash flow across companies and personal accounts
    • Forecast future cash requirements and ensure liquidity for all operations
    • Maintain rolling cash flow and working capital schedules
  • Data, Systems & Reporting
    • Build real-time dashboards to track financial KPIs
    • Consolidate data from systems like Toast, CompuDine, Gusto, and QuickBooks
    • Analyze trends and prepare summary reports for decision-making
  • Payroll & HR Administration
    • Oversee payroll processing via Gusto; ensure accuracy and compliance
    • Maintain records of PTO, benefits, and HR documentation
    • Assist with employee onboarding/offboarding and classification
  • Invoicing & Receivables
    • Oversee invoicing and payment tracking for wholesale, internal, and retail billing
    • Manage AR aging, collections follow-ups, and payment reconciliation
  • Workflow Optimization & Operations
    • Design and implement SOPs and automated workflows (Google Sheets, Excel, etc.)
    • Maintain organized digital filing systems for contracts, receipts, tax docs, etc.
    • Lead efforts to streamline processes, reduce manual tasks, and scale operations

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or operations
  • Experience managing financials for multi-entity businesses
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Google Sheets/Excel, and Gusto
  • Strong understanding of retail and food industry operations is a major plus
  • Highly analytical, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Experience with POS systems like CompuDine and Toast is preferred
  • Trustworthy and professional in handling confidential financial data
  • Bonus: Background working in a family office or high-volume retail business

Note: An NBI or police clearance will be required upon acceptance of the job offer.
