We’re looking for a strategic and technically astute Director of Sales Engineering to lead our U.S. Sales Engineering function. This role will be instrumental in bridging our customers, the Sales organization, and our global Product team. As our primary market continues to expand in the United States, we need someone who can align technical strategies with customer needs while serving as the U.S. voice back to our global Product leadership in Australia.
This position reports to our Chief Revenue Officer and is part of the U.S. leadership team (dotted line to the General Manager, North America). You’ll also spend significant time collaborating with our Product leadership in Australia, providing crucial U.S.-centric insights to help shape product direction.
What you will do: Leadership & Strategy
Technical Sales & Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and grow our U.S. Sales Engineering team, fostering a high-performance culture.
Develop and implement technical sales strategies, standards, and best practices for direct and channel partners.
Ensure technical excellence in all customer engagements, proof-of-concepts (POCs), and solution architecture.
Customer Technical Strategy
Build and maintain strategic technical relationships with key enterprise accounts.
Provide architectural vision and guidance for complex customer solutions, working closely with Sales leadership on major deals.
Lead technical strategy for market-expansion initiatives and new product launches in the U.S.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Support teams to address escalations, reducing reliance on our Australia-based Product team.
Work closely with our Channel organization to enhance partner enablement and build strong reseller relationships.
Help drive analyst relations by providing market insights and technical credibility.
What you will do: Market & Product
Market-Product Alignment
Act as the primary liaison between the U.S. market and our global Product organization in Australia.
Gather, synthesize, and convey customer requirements to influence product roadmaps.
Stay ahead of competitive technical positioning, providing ongoing feedback on emerging market opportunities and threats.
Product & Technical Enablement
Serve as the U.S. point of contact for all product-related inquiries, including escalations and roadmap discussions.
Own or contribute to product training programs for Sales, Pre-sales, and Support teams, ensuring new features and capabilities are well understood.
Collaborate with Product Marketing to refine technical messaging, develop industry-specific content, and capture competitive intelligence.
What you will bring:
10+ years of experience in technical presales, sales engineering, or solutions architecture, with 5+ years in a leadership capacity (ideally within cybersecurity).
Demonstrated success building relationships with global Product and R&D teams—preferably from a remote location.
Excellent communication skills to translate complex technical concepts into compelling value propositions.
Willingness to travel to Australia and within the U.S. to meet with stakeholders and customers in person.
A passion for coaching, mentoring, and elevating the performance of your team.
