Job Description

Type: Part-time contractor (2-3 days/week; hours negotiable)
Location: Remote (with regular in-person meetings with Abuja-based clients and partners)

OpenFn is a free and open source digital public good (DPG) that automates data exchange and repetitive tasks so that NGOs and governments can work more efficiently, improve service delivery, and scale promising health & humanitarian interventions.

Our team, Open Function Group, is the primary steward of this open source software. We are a team of IT and data integration specialists that provide open source software, training, and technical support to help partners in 40+ countries automate mission-critical workflows and achieve interoperability.

We’re a fully-remote, lean team that uses cutting edge technologies to drive efficiency where it matters most; we do not make marginal improvements to already comfortable lives.

The role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager to join our services team. In this role, you will take on accountability for the successful implementation of data integration and workflow automation solutions for primarily health supply chain use cases built on our flagship platform OpenFn.

This position will ensure the appropriate management of all business requirements, coordinating expectations across multiple stakeholders, and implementing all technical deliverables as per the specifications in a timely fashion.

You will be working in a remote, agile environment, alongside a dynamic, multi-skilled team of IT consultants, developers, engineers, supply chain experts, public health and development specialists. There will also be in-person meetings and workshops with OpenFn customers and stakeholders in Nigeria.

We are seeking individuals who are eager to work with a diverse team in an exciting work environment and want to use their project management knowhow and technical background to get things done. You will have the opportunity to work directly with health NGOs and government customers, delivering solutions that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the public sector, and help save lives and critical resources.

What you'll be doing

  • Oversee the end-to-end management of data integration projects, ensuring alignment with government partner needs and organizational objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and ensuring effective communication.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to design, develop, and deploy integration solutions between government data systems and external platforms.
  • Develop and manage project plans, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
  • Conduct stakeholder workshops, requirements gathering, and user training sessions to facilitate system adoption.
  • Monitor project performance, report on key metrics, and ensure compliance with relevant data governance and security standards.
  • Troubleshoot project challenges, identify dependencies, and proactively address risks to maintain smooth project execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in project management, ideally in data integration, software implementation, or government technology projects.
  • Proven experience managing multi-stakeholder projects, preferably in the public sector or international development space.
  • Demonstrated expertise in collecting and managing requirements from different stakeholders and delivering against those.
  • Must be technically savvy and enjoy the design process to build software solutions that meet business goals and objectives.
  • Strong understanding of health information systems and/or supply chain concepts.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in dynamic, cross-cultural environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)

Things that might set you apart

  • Experience working with health information systems or supply chain systems.
  • Strong experience with technical project management and/or IT consulting.
  • Proven track record of managing projects involving government stakeholders.
  • Understanding of data integration concepts, APIs, and system interoperability.
  • Experience facilitating workshops for large groups of stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Financial compensation is commensurate with experience.
  • Flexible working schedule.
  • We’re fully remote with team meetups across Europe and Africa (our last three were in Nairobi, Cape Town, and Dakar).
  • Exposure to hottest industry and technology trends and leading health and humanitarian interventions in the sector.
  • Opportunity for leadership and advancement. You will be a key contributor to our company’s strategy and direction.
  • Opportunities to travel to team meetings, customer visits, and conferences.
  • The opportunity to shape our strategy and impact millions of lives through our open source software in a small, mission-driven organization. Work on impactful projects that enhance data-driven decision-making in the public sector.
