Job Description

About the role:

JumpCloud is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to operate the Security organization's program management function. This is a hands-on role for a classically trained program manager who has already integrated AI deeply into their working life and uses it to operate at a higher level than traditional PM scale allows. You will own the day-to-day program management of the security organization's projects and run a hybrid program management capability where AI handles continuous structured work, while you provide the judgment, prioritization and relationship work where humans excel.

About the team:

Our Security organization spans SecOps, GRC, and DevSecOps. As our scope grows, we are actively investing in modern, AI-augmented operations. As the Senior TPM reporting to the Director of Security, you will own program management across the entire org. You will partner closely with security leadership, engineers, and our AI team, collaborating to design, refine, and drive the AI-assisted program management systems that power our daily work.

What you will be doing:
  • Operating Standard Enforcement: Apply a single operating standard across every security project. Drive project hygiene at scale: ownership, dates, scope, plans, status. Review and act on AI-generated drafts that flag gaps, propose fixes and surface stale work to project owners.

  • Intake and Triage: Own the front door for security requests across Slack channels, ticket forms and direct asks. Classify, route, set expectations with requestors and capture demand as data. Train the AI classification system through your corrections and feedback.

  • Status and Reporting: Produce per-person, per-project and program-level status briefs and the reports the security org commits to (weekly operating reviews, monthly engineering-relevant metrics, quarterly roadmap progress). Edit AI-drafted reports for narrative, framing and the relationship context the data does not capture.

  • Capacity and Commitment: Maintain a working model of team capacity and project commitments. Flag slippage early. Surface overcommitment to leadership before dates slip. Apply judgment for factors the data does not see (team morale, growth needs, strategic context).

  • Interruption Work Tracking: Inventory and measure the categories of interruption work the team handles (elevation requests, threat model processing, team requests, secret rotations, vulnerability alerts and others). Propose new projects to reduce unplanned work and improve processing efficiency.

  • Prioritization: Place new work in the priority queue using stated criteria of impact, urgency, dependencies and capacity. Apply judgment for political and strategic context.

  • AI System Partnership: Work directly with the AI engineering function as an internal customer. File feature requests, validate output quality, define what good looks like and shape the system over time. You are the product owner for the program management capability that supports your work.

  • Operating Standard Evolution: Refine the operating standard as edge cases surface. Propose updates, build team buy-in and roll out changes consistently.

  • Cross-Company Representation: Represent the security organization's program management practice to peers, stakeholders, and leadership across the company. Ensure all program reporting provides an accurate, transparent, and objective view of current progress and risks.

  • Necessary skills:
  • 6 years of program or project management experience, ideally including time in technical or engineering organizations

  • Demonstrated experience using AI to scale your program management practice. You can describe specific examples of how AI has saved time, reduced cost, automated routine work or enabled you to operate at a higher level

  • Deep fluency with Jira and Confluence, including epic and project structure, JQL, dashboards and reporting

  • Excellent written communication. You can draft a clear executive update, a precise project brief and an honest status report

  • Comfort working without complete information. You exercise judgment and make calls without waiting for permission

  • Ability to push back constructively, including upward, when commitments are at risk or scope is creeping

  • Experience operating in a remote-first organization

  • Bonus: prior experience in security, infrastructure or platform engineering organizations

  • Personal characteristics we are looking for:
  • Passionate about AI as a force multiplier, not the primary focus. You have already integrated AI into how you work and can describe what it has and has not done for you

  • Operates from first principles. You understand what actually needs to get done and you do not let tooling distract from the work

  • Emotionally mature. You can hold a high standard, deliver honest feedback and stay constructive when commitments slip or decisions are contested

  • High level of integrity. You report what is true, not what is flattering

  • Ownership and accountability. The program is yours

  • Clear, direct communication

  • Creative problem solver

  • Service-minded. You understand program management is a service function and the team you support is the customer

  • Bonus: passionate about security
