Job Description

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to take full ownership of the accounting function at a Dallas-based insurance brokerage. You will centralize day-to-day financial operations, improve reporting visibility, reduce dependency on outside accounting firms, and become the go-to internal person for accounting, reporting, and finance.

This is a hands-on role. You need to be comfortable operating across reconciliations, reporting, payables, receivables, process improvement, and leadership support. The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, insurance brokerage or financial services experience, and the ability to work independently without constant direction. You do not need to be a CFO-level financial modeler, but you should be capable of running clean books, supporting leadership with clear reporting, and improving the processes you inherit.

Why You'll Want to Join

  • You will be paid in USD (bi-monthly: every 15th and 30th)
  • Paid Time Off in accordance with company policy
  • Observance of Holidays per company guidelines
  • 100% remote setup so you can work wherever you're most productive
  • This role requires availability during US Central Time business hours
  • Own the entire accounting function of a growing insurance brokerage with direct access to leadership
  • Stable, long-term role with real ownership and room to build better processes from the ground up

What You'll Work On

Accounting and Financial Operations

  • Own day-to-day accounting operations and maintain a clear, accurate view of cash, receivables, payables, commissions, and other financial activity
  • Perform regular reconciliations and improve visibility across the company's accounting workflows
  • Review, organize, and manage financial transactions across accounting and agency management systems
  • Support month-end close, reporting, and financial review processes
  • Maintain accurate books in accordance with US GAAP principles
  • Identify issues, discrepancies, gaps, or inefficiencies in existing accounting workflows and fix them
  • Help transition appropriate work away from outside firms and non-accounting team members into a centralized internal function

Reporting and Leadership Support

  • Prepare financial reports and run numbers for leadership as needed
  • Provide timely, accurate reporting to support business decision-making
  • Help leadership understand financial trends, variances, and key business drivers
  • Assist with basic budgeting, margin tracking, and performance visibility
  • Respond to ad hoc and last-minute reporting requests with professionalism and accuracy

Systems and Process Improvement

  • Learn the company's accounting workflows and internal systems including Applied Epic if needed
  • Document, organize, and standardize accounting processes
  • Create better controls, checks, and visibility around money movement
  • Remove accounting tasks from non-accounting team members so they can focus on their core roles

Payroll, HR, and Administrative Support

  • Support certain payroll-related functions and coordination
  • Work with the company's HR professional and help ensure HR administration runs smoothly
  • Help track onboarding, offboarding, payroll coordination, and related administrative workflows

Banking, Compliance, and Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate with banking partners, outside accounting firms, and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain clean books and reliable reporting to support company banking relationships
  • Handle sensitive financial and client-related information securely and professionally

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of accounting, controllership, senior bookkeeping, or accounting management experience
  • Insurance brokerage, insurance agency, or insurance accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and experience supporting US-based businesses
  • Strong reconciliation experience with the ability to own accounting workflows from start to finish
  • Comfortable learning accounting systems, agency management systems, or other industry-specific platforms
  • Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills
  • Clear written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work US Central Time business hours
  • High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to work independently
  • Trustworthy and reliable with sensitive financial information

Nice to Have

  • CPA or equivalent accounting credential
  • Applied Epic experience
  • Experience with insurance commissions, carrier payables and receivables, agency billing, or trust account reconciliation
  • Prior Controller or Accounting Manager experience in a small or mid-sized company
  • Experience coordinating with outside accounting firms or bookkeeping partners
  • Experience with basic forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting
  • Experience supporting payroll and HR administration
  • Experience working remotely for a US-based company
