Job Title: Accounting Manager
Location: Remote/Hybrid (preference for candidates with experience working in European time zones)

About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated Accounting Manager with a strong background in European accounting standards to lead our accounting operations and provide strategic financial oversight. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with midsize companies (100–1,000 employees) in Europe, a deep understanding of European financial regulations, and excellent English skills for effective cross-border communication. You will play a pivotal role in managing our financial reporting, compliance, and day-to-day accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management and Reporting:
- Oversee all accounting functions, including GL management, monthly and annual closings, and financial reconciliations.
- Prepare and review accurate financial statements, management reports, and forecasts in compliance with IFRS and/or local GAAP standards.
- Analyze financial performance, providing insights and identifying opportunities for financial improvement.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead and coordinate the budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with finance and other departments.
- Monitor budget performance and recommend adjustments to align with organizational goals.
- Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Ensure compliance with European financial regulations, VAT requirements, and other statutory reporting obligations.
- Implement and monitor internal controls, conducting periodic reviews and audits to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Provide ongoing support to team members, resolving complex accounting issues and promoting continuous improvement.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives and business objectives.
- Communicate financial insights and deliver actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent European certification preferred.
- Experience:
- At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including 5 years in a managerial position within midsize European companies.
- Solid understanding of European accounting standards (IFRS, local GAAP) and VAT regulations.
- Skills:
- Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in ERP system implementation or process automation.
- Familiarity with the financial and tax regulations of multiple European countries.
- Background in financial analysis and reporting for multi-entity organizations.
