Job Description

About SlashData

Our Mission: We empower product, platform, and engineering leaders with best-in-class research on developers and the future of software in the AI era.

Our BHAG (big, hairy, audacious goal): is to become the industry reference for the software development economy

What We Do

We provide best-in-class research for how AI is reshaping software development.

AI is changing software development faster than any other job. Developers are no longer just writing code. They are increasingly supervising, orchestrating, and managing AI systems. At the same time, platform vendors are competing for developer adoption in an AI-crowded market, while product, platform and engineering leaders are deciding which tools, workflows, and practices will truly multiply productivity – and which will create noise or risk.

Our research replaces assumptions with evidence, helping leaders:

  • Understand how the developer ecosystem and engineering teams are evolving.
  • Build better products, platforms, and go-to-market strategies for the AI era
  • Make smarter decisions about the tools, practices, and investments that will shape the future of software

For over 20 years, we have tracked software technology trends and worked with the top global technology brands (yes, all the usual suspects).

The Role

We are looking for a highly data-driven Digital Marketing Lead who is accountable for measurable pipeline growth and revenue contribution, working alongside an external digital marketing agency. The role works within the sales and marketing team, which consists of two account managers, one SDR and the marketing person.

This is not a visionary or creative brand role. This is a performance-led marketing leadership role focused on targets, funnel optimisation, and commercial impact. You will own lead-generation performance, marketing contribution to pipeline, conversion improvement, and close alignment with Sales. You will operate through data, dashboards, testing and continuous optimisation.

What You’ll Be Doing

Revenue & Funnel Ownership:

  • Set and deliver ambitious MQL and SQL targets.
  • Improve MQL → SQL conversion rates.
  • Increase marketing-sourced and marketing-influenced pipeline.
  • Optimise the full funnel: traffic → lead → MQL → SQL → opportunity.
  • Identify and fix leakage points in the funnel.

Demand Generation & Campaign Performance:

  • Build and execute a multi-channel demand generation strategy.
  • Increase high-intent inbound leads.
  • Improve website and landing page conversion rates.
  • Develop structured cross-sell and upsell marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure all campaigns are ROI-driven and measurable

Website, Messaging & Positioning:

  • Oversee SlashData.co performance and conversion optimisation.
  • Sharpen the commercial positioning of research and data products.
  • Ensure value propositions are clear, differentiated and outcome-focused.
  • Align all messaging to target platform leaders and engineering leaders.

PR, Visibility & Distribution (Performance-Oriented):

  • Plan and execute commercially valuable PR initiatives.
  • Build strategic content distribution partnerships.
  • Increase qualified traffic and visibility within the developer ecosystem.
  • Ensure visibility initiatives support pipeline goals, not vanity metrics.

The role aligns with the sales team daily, and also owns the measurement and reporting of all marketing activities. It reports weekly to the CEO and monthly to the leadership team.

Requirements

The Skills We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of B2B marketing experience, ideally in tech, SaaS, data or research.
  • Strong experience in demand generation and funnel optimisation.
  • Proven track record of increasing MQLs and improving conversion rates.
Experience working in tight alignment with Sales.
  • Strong analytical mindset; confident working with marketing metrics and CRM data.
  • Experience building and executing performance-focused marketing strategies.
  • Experience with CRM and marketing automation tools (Zoho or similar).
  • Commercially minded and target-driven.
  • Comfortable being accountable for measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.
Comfortable operating in a remote, distributed team.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience in marketing research, analytics or data products.
  • Familiarity with developer audiences or developer marketing.
  • Experience in account-based marketing (ABM).
  • Experience significantly improving MQL → SQL conversion rates.
  • Experience using AI tools to optimise marketing performance.
  • Experience building marketing dashboards and reporting frameworks from scratch.

Key Success Metrics

You will be successful in the role if, within the first 6 months, you have:

  • Increased MQL → SQL conversion rate
  • Increased marketing-sourced pipeline
  • Improved website conversion rate
  • Reduced cost per MQL
  • Delivered an increase in qualified MQL volume (year-on-year).
  • Launched at least 2 high-performing demand generation campaigns, driving measurable pipeline.
  • Implemented structured weekly Sales–Marketing funnel reviews
  • Reduced lead leakage between MQL and SQL
  • Contributed directly to at least 25% of closed-won pipeline.
  • Secured high-quality PR placements in relevant tech outlets.
  • Established at least 2 strategic distribution partnerships.
