A day in the life of a Director, Product Security at Calendly

As the Director of Product Security, you will be responsible for building, scaling, and leading Calendly’s Product Security program. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring our applications and cloud infrastructure are secure, scalable, and resilient as we expand our product offerings.

On a typical day, you'll be working on:

  • Program Development: Build and mature a comprehensive Product Security program that aligns with Calendly’s growth, emphasizing application security, cloud infrastructure, and secure software development practices
  • Secure Development Lifecycle: Embed security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) 
  • AI and Innovation: Lead efforts to secure artificial intelligence features, ensuring data privacy, compliance, and security by design
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product and engineering teams to influence product architecture and feature development with a security-first approach
  • Hands-on Leadership: Supplement and support application security efforts through technical assessments, and incident response as needed
  • Team Building and Mentorship: Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of security engineers
  • Security Evangelism: Act as an advocate for security best practices within Calendly and the broader tech community
  • Governance and Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant security and privacy standards and manage security audits related to our product and cloud environment.

What do we need from you?

  • Extensive Experience: 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity with a strong focus on application and product security, including 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Hands-on Skills: Deep technical knowledge with the ability to remain hands-on, conducting security assessments, code reviews, and architecture reviews when necessary
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to develop and execute a strategic roadmap for product security that aligns with business objectives and growth
  • Strong Collaboration: Excellent collaboration skills, with a proven track record of influencing cross-functional teams and driving security initiatives in partnership with engineering and product leadership
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex security concepts into actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Agile Mindset: Experience working in fast-paced, agile environments, balancing the need for security with the need for speed in a startup-like setting
  • Remote Leadership: Experience leading distributed teams in a remote-first environment is a plus
  • Legal Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States, as Calendly does not provide immigration sponsorship at this time

The ranges listed below are the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.

Calendly takes a number of factors into consideration when determining an employee’s starting salary, including relevant experience, relevant skills sets, interview performance, location/metropolitan area, and internal pay equity.

Base salary is just one component of Calendly’s total rewards package. All full-time (30 hours/week) employees are also eligible for our Quarterly Corporate Bonus program (or Sales incentive), equity awards, and competitive benefits.

Calendly uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location, or the onsite building location if hybrid, to determine which metropolitan pay range we use. Current geographic zones are as follows:

  • Tier 1: San Francisco, CA, San Jose, CA, New York City, NY
  • Tier 2: Chicago, IL, Austin, TX, Denver, CO, Boston, MA, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, PA, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, Miami, FL, and all other cities in CA.
  • Tier 3: All other locations not in Tier 1 or Tier 2
