One of our companies is currently looking for an Engineering Manager (JavaScript / NodeJS / Typescript) in European Union.
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross-functional team of frontend and backend engineers in building and enhancing a suite of SaaS digital advertisement products. Your focus will be on guiding your team to improve their technical skills while also remaining hands-on to keep your engineering expertise sharp. You will be collaborating with various teams, including Product Design and Product Management, to ensure high-quality development and to foster an engineering culture built on collaboration and innovation. Your leadership will be essential in mentoring engineers, driving project delivery, and continuously elevating the team's performance and morale.
Accountabilities:
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams in the development and implementation of complex features and services.
- Ensure a 50% hands-on approach by contributing directly to the development process, ensuring that you maintain engineering credibility and expertise.
- Mentor engineers, providing career guidance and helping them grow professionally.
- Foster collaboration within and across teams to develop long-term visions for engineering practices, tools, and product development.
- Drive the consistent delivery of high-quality products, meeting deadlines, providing clear updates, and leading demos.
- Participate in defining and executing the hiring plan for your team, including interviewing and screening candidates.
- Maintain coding standards through design discussions, code reviews, and active participation in the development process.
- Collaborate with support and operations teams to address and resolve production issues.
- Conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews with team members, ensuring career growth and development.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
- 2+ years of engineering leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing productive, high-functioning teams.
- Expertise in writing clean, testable, and maintainable code with a focus on security and reliability.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and engage in constructive conversations.
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and programming languages.
- Experience in cross-team strategic planning, architectural design, and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
- Proficiency in Node.js with TypeScript, web stacks, and relevant libraries/frameworks.
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture, message busses, and pub/sub systems.
- Strong experience with automated and unit testing best practices.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineers, helping them achieve their potential.
