A quick look at the role.

National role managing major Capex projects across the UK, ensuring delivery within cost, time, and quality targets. Work closely with site engineering managers, site managers, and the H&S team. Oversee contractors and consultants to ensure project success, with a strong focus on civil engineering/construction.

This is a Monday to Friday role, with occasional nights away from home.

Your core responsibilities.

  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and legislation to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Develop cost-effective engineering solutions, ensuring projects align with client expectations while selecting appropriate contract forms to minimize company risk.
  • Oversee contractors, ensuring all work is completed to the required standards, specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Provide technical and project management support for new, operational, and closed sites across the UK, ensuring projects follow the company’s Project Management System.
  • Engage consultants when necessary, effectively managing their input to minimize risk and cost exposure while ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Monitor, control, and report on project budgets, ensuring capital expenditure stays within approved company financial models and authorization limits.
  • Work with planners, regulatory bodies, and other authorities to negotiate and secure company interests while maintaining compliance and positive relationships.
  • Ensure all projects comply with relevant legislation, including CDM regulations, and obtain necessary licenses, permits, and consents to meet development needs.

Requirements

Our essential requirements.

  • Engineering degree and NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Proven project delivery within cost, quality, and time in waste management or related fields.
  • Experience working with planning and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong problem-solving and prioritisation skills.
  • Willing to travel, work flexible hours, and respond to emergencies when needed.
