As a Senior UX Designer and Researcher, you will be responsible for leading the design and research strategy and execution for complex digital solutions for our government clients. You will work closely with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to design user research studies, define project requirements, design user interfaces, and ensure that the user experience is aligned with project goals and objectives.
This is a full-time position contingent on contract award by our client, with a defined performance period of up to one year, with the possibility of two one-year extensions. Responsibilities
Collaborating with cross-functional teams and leading user research efforts to understand user needs, business goals, and preferences of government employees and citizens who use our digital products and services; translating them into research objectives and questions
Designing and conducting various research methods such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and ethnographic studies to collect qualitative and quantitative data
Analyzing and synthesizing research findings into actionable insights and recommendations that inform design decisions and improve the user experience
Communicating research findings to cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients through reports, presentations, and other methods, to build understanding and guide delivery
Developing user personas, user journeys, wireframes, and prototypes that effectively communicate design ideas and concepts to stakeholders
Leading the development and maintenance of research plans, protocols, and documentation that ensure research quality, rigor, and ethical standards
Defining design systems and patterns that enable consistency and scalability across multiple products and services
Mentoring and guiding junior UX designers and researchers to improve their skills and promote a culture of design excellence.
Staying up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and techniques, and sharing knowledge with the team to promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
Supporting the development of design processes, workflows, and standards that enable efficient and effective design operations
Contributing to the development of research frameworks, principles, and guidelines that enable consistency and scalability across multiple products and services
Collaborating with other designers, developers, and project managers to ensure that design solutions are aligned with project requirements and timelines
Building and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders, and providing thought leadership in UX research to drive business growth and innovation
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, plus at least four (4) years of related experience in UX design and research, preferably in a federal consulting or government environment.
Demonstrated expertise in research methods such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and ethnographic studies
Proven track record of leading the design of complex digital solutions for government clients
Proven ability to lead research strategy and execution for multiple projects simultaneously
Confident application of user-centered design principles and methodologies
Strong portfolio that demonstrates a range of UX design skills, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design
Experience designing for government benefits applications, claims processing, or similar high-stakes user workflows
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze and synthesize complex data into actionable insights and recommendations
Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and build relationships with clients and stakeholders
Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and coach junior researchers and drive innovation in the research function
Familiarity with accessibility and Section 508 compliance guidelines is a plus
Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
