Software Engineer I, Retain

Job Description

Retain’s job is to know the member’s next best clinical action and get them to do it. We’re solving that by building a full stack platform that coordinates the work of other teams to understand what’s most relevant for the member and get them to do it.

You will report to the Engineering Manager, Orchestration Platform.

About You:

Reporting to Engineering Manager, Orchestration Platform, you are passionate about applying their software engineering fundamentals to build software that meets the highest standards in quality, scalability and reliability.


About You:
  • You are a recent graduate with a BS in Computer Science or related field and 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • You optimize for impact over motion and love getting stuff done
  • You have a solid understanding of back-end development, and are comfortable with at least one frontend platform
  • You have strong programming skills, CS fundamentals
  • You are a self-starter and motivated learner
  • You have a strong desire for professional growth
  • You have strong communication skills
  • You are legally authorized to work in Canada

  • What you will do:
  • Build and maintain platform APIs, and sometimes Frontend infrastructure such as notification handlers that build on those APIs
  • Jump into other team’s codebases to help achieve collective goals
  • Collaborate on tight-knit teams - teach us what you know and learn from us
  • Identify areas of technical debt and influence roadmap plans with smart solutions

  • Bonus Points:
  • Experience in our tech stack: Golang, React, TypeScript, NextJS, GraphQL, GRPC/Protobuf, MySQL, PostgreSQL

  • Physical and Cognitive Requirements
  • Prompt and regular attendance at assigned work location.
  • Ability to remain seated in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, computer and other office-related equipment.
  • No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs. of force (e.g., lifting a computer / laptop) may be required.
  • Ability to interact with leadership, employees, and members in an appropriate manner.
