Job Description

We are sharing a specialised full-time contingent engineering opportunity for U.S.-based software engineers with experience in TypeScript, Node.js, clinical data integrations, EHR systems, FHIR, HL7, healthcare APIs, microservices, and cloud-native backend development.

This role supports current and upcoming clinical data engineering work focused on building backend integration services that move healthcare data between electronic health record systems. Selected professionals will design and implement production-grade integration services, support clinical workflow data exchange, and contribute engineering expertise across healthcare interoperability, secure data movement, API architecture, and AI-assisted development workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Clinical Data Integration Engineering

  • Build robust backend services in TypeScript and Node.js to support clinical data movement between electronic health record systems
  • Architect integration services using HL7 v2, FHIR, EHR APIs, and healthcare interoperability standards
  • Develop reliable data exchange workflows involving clinical records, patient data structures, healthcare APIs, and integration pipelines
  • Support engineering work across clinical data modeling, patient identity management, healthcare workflow integrations, and EHR connectivity depending on project needs

Backend Systems, Cloud & Security

  • Deploy and maintain microservices using AWS, containerization, and cloud-native engineering practices
  • Implement data validation, monitoring, observability, error handling, and secure backend service patterns
  • Support HIPAA-aligned security practices for healthcare data workflows and integration services
  • Contribute to scalable system design involving distributed services, RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, concurrency, and production infrastructure

Code Quality, System Design & Product Collaboration

  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design decisions
  • Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders on clinical workflow solutions
  • Use AI-assisted coding tools where appropriate to accelerate development while maintaining engineering quality
  • Translate healthcare integration requirements into clear implementation plans, reliable services, and maintainable backend systems

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • 3+ years of experience building production systems with Node.js and TypeScript
  • Prior experience at a healthcare startup, digital health company, health-data integration platform, or similar clinical technology environment
  • Working knowledge of FHIR, HL7, patient identity management, clinical data modeling, EHR APIs, or healthcare interoperability workflows
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, concurrency, and distributed systems
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, backend services, or integration platforms
  • Experience scaling microservices or cloud-native applications using AWS, Kubernetes, containers, or related infrastructure
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to build secure, reliable, production-ready healthcare data systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in an on-site, engineering-team environment
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and current location in the United States

Nice to Have

  • Experience implementing OAuth 2.0 or SMART on FHIR authentication flows
  • Experience with HIPAA-aligned engineering practices, healthcare security requirements, or regulated clinical data environments
  • Familiarity with EHR vendor APIs, clinical workflow tooling, interoperability platforms, or patient-data exchange infrastructure
  • Experience with monitoring, observability, automated testing, CI/CD, container orchestration, or production incident response
  • Ability to work closely with product and clinical stakeholders to translate healthcare workflow needs into technical solutions

Why This Opportunity

  • Apply clinical data engineering expertise to high-impact healthcare technology work
  • Build integration services that support secure movement of clinical data between EHR systems
  • Work with modern backend technologies including TypeScript, Node.js, cloud services, APIs, and healthcare interoperability standards
  • Contribute to clinical workflow solutions in a focused engineering environment
  • Full-time W2 contingent structure with competitive compensation

Contract Details
