Our client is an early-stage, fast-growing fashion marketplace based in New York, transforming how South Asian formalwear is rented and resold.

Built on the success of an established fashion business with over 7,000 customers, 2,000+ completed rentals, and more than $1.1M in revenue, they are now scaling their technology platform while preparing for their next stage of growth.

Their mission is to build the leading peer-to-peer marketplace for South Asian formalwear, combining beautiful user experiences with robust marketplace infrastructure. The product is already live and processing real transactions, and the team is working toward an ambitious product milestone ahead of the 2026 wedding season.

This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on the visual identity and user experience of a product used by thousands of customers, working closely with the founder and lead developer to shape the future of the platform.

Role Overview

As the Senior UI/UX Designer, you will be responsible for designing elegant, intuitive, and conversion-focused user experiences across web and mobile platforms.

You'll collaborate directly with the founder and the lead developer to improve the marketplace experience, create new user journeys, and help define the visual direction of the product. This is a highly collaborative role where your work will directly influence product decisions, customer engagement, and business growth.

The ideal candidate combines exceptional visual design skills with strong UX thinking and understands how to create seamless digital shopping experiences within the fashion industry.

This is initially a 3-month contract, with a strong possibility of long-term extension based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Design intuitive and visually polished user experiences for web and mobile applications.
• Create high-fidelity interfaces and interactive prototypes using Figma.
• Collaborate closely with the founder to translate business goals into user-centered experiences.
• Partner with developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs and maintain design quality throughout development.
• Improve existing user flows across the marketplace, including product discovery, rentals, checkout, user onboarding, and account management.
• Design new experiences for marketplace operations, including garment care workflows, notifications, and lender management.
• Develop and maintain scalable design systems and reusable UI components.
• Conduct UX research when needed and continuously iterate designs based on user feedback and business priorities.
• Advocate for usability, accessibility, consistency, and modern design best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in UI/UX Design for digital products.
• Advanced proficiency with Figma, including components, auto layout, design systems, prototyping, and developer handoff.
• Proven experience designing responsive web applications and mobile-first experiences.
• Previous experience designing products within the Fashion Retail industry is required.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and interaction design.
• Experience creating user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and design systems.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with developers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation.
• Experience working directly with founders, product teams, or non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present and defend design decisions.
• Strong attention to detail and passion for creating premium user experiences.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing fashion e-commerce or marketplace platforms.
• Portfolio showcasing work for Fashion Retail brands or luxury consumer products.
• Experience designing mobile applications.
• Familiarity with marketplace user journeys, checkout optimization, and conversion-focused UX.
• Understanding of modern frontend development workflows and developer handoff best practices.
• Experience working in startups or fast-paced product environments.
