As a Senior Systems Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery and optimization of technical solutions in support of a value stream team. This role bridges business needs and technical implementation by analyzing complex systems, defining detailed requirements, and supporting the design and delivery of end-to-end capabilities aligned with business objectives.

The Senior Systems Analyst collaborates closely with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, QA Engineers, and business stakeholders to understand business processes, document system behaviors, identify gaps, and translate strategic goals into actionable user stories, technical specifications, and solution designs. This role also contributes to the design of modern, scalable, flexible, and loosely coupled solutions that support long-term business and technology goals.

Experience

  • 6+ years of experience as a Systems Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, or similar role.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, including business users, architects, developers, and QA teams.

Highly Preferred

  • Experience within the insurance and/or financial services industry.
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification or equivalent cloud knowledge.

Requirements


Technical Skills

  • Requirements gathering and documentation (functional and non-functional requirements).
  • Business process analysis and process modeling.
  • Data modeling concepts.
  • Writing clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Understanding of relational databases and strong SQL skills for data analysis and validation.
  • Working knowledge of Python for data validation and analysis.
  • Data mapping and transformation documentation.
  • Data analysis using Excel, SQL tools, and/or BI platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret system architecture diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of microservices and distributed systems concepts.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and system integrations.
  • Basic understanding of GitHub or other version control systems.
  • Experience using project management and Agile tools such as Jira.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
  • Understanding of secure data handling practices, including sensitive financial data and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

What You'll Be Responsible For

Requirements Analysis & Documentation

  • Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Facilitate discussions and workshops with stakeholders to understand business needs and desired outcomes.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure requirements are complete, traceable, testable, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Support backlog refinement and prioritization activities with Product Owners and delivery teams.

Systems Analysis & Solution Design

  • Analyze existing systems, workflows, integrations, and business processes to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the design of scalable, maintainable, and loosely coupled solutions aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
  • Evaluate technical and business impacts of proposed changes.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to ensure solution designs meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Contribute to modernization initiatives and system optimization efforts.

Data Analysis & Integration

  • Analyze and validate data using SQL, Excel, Python, and reporting tools.
  • Create and maintain data mapping and transformation documentation.
  • Support data migration, integration, and ETL-related initiatives.
  • Validate data quality and ensure consistency across systems and processes.
  • Assist in identifying data-related risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Act as a liaison between business teams and technology teams to ensure clear communication and shared understanding.
  • Provide regular updates regarding requirements, risks, dependencies, and project progress.
  • Support decision-making by providing analysis, recommendations, and technical insights.

Agile Delivery

  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with development and QA teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Ensure requirements are clearly understood and effectively implemented.
  • Support testing activities by clarifying requirements and validating delivered functionality.

Troubleshooting & Production Support

  • Investigate and help resolve functional and technical issues during implementation and operational phases.
  • Perform impact analysis and root cause investigations when issues arise.
  • Support post-implementation activities to ensure solution stability and business continuity.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including requirements, process flows, system behaviors, data mappings, integration specifications, and architecture-related artifacts.
  • Promote best practices and contribute to organizational knowledge sharing.
  • Support onboarding and mentoring activities when applicable.
