Spreetail is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our team! Platform Engineering is redefining how software is built at Spreetail. We enable innovation by providing platforms, guardrails, and AI-powered workflows that allow teams across the company to experiment safely and scale what works. As a member of this team, you’ll contribute to work that doesn’t exist most places.
How you will achieve success:
Provision complete infrastructure stacks for new product launches. Recent examples include full EKS buildouts (Karpenter, Istio, Crossplane), PostgreSQL/Redis data stores with IAM authentication, CloudFront distributions, and Datadog instrumentation across multiple concurrent initiatives.
Lead Kubernetes platform evolution. Drive cluster upgrades, add-on lifecycle (Karpenter, Istio, Crossplane), pod identity migration, and namespace management across all environments.
Design secure, scalable abstractions that hide infrastructure complexity and define the golden paths other teams build on.
Own authentication infrastructure for internal and external products: Auth0 SSO, Azure AD/Entra, AWS IAM, EKS Pod Identity, and OIDC federation.
Drive zero-trust infrastructure patterns. Rotating IAM credentials for RDS, per-app Istio authorization policies, and network isolation.
Enable LLM-powered workflows (Bedrock, Claude Code, and similar) that let engineering teams move faster without sacrificing governance.
What experiences will help you in this role:
Production EKS ownership: cluster management, Karpenter, IRSA/Pod Identity, version upgrades — not just deploying to someone else’s cluster.
Terraform module authoring for team-wide use — not just consuming shared modules, but writing them.
Full AWS stack: VPC, RDS (IAM auth), ElastiCache, ALB, Route53, ACM, IAM policy design.
Service mesh operational experience (Istio preferred; Linkerd or Envoy acceptable).
5+ years of infrastructure/platform engineering in production cloud environments.
