Product Manager (Fully Remote Opportunity)

K1x partners with the nation’s largest accounting firms, institutional investors, family offices, and enterprise organizations to modernize tax operations at scale.

Your Role: 

K1x is looking for a Product Manager, Platform to own the shared technical foundation that all current and future K1x product modules are built on. This role will define platform strategy, drive cross-product infrastructure decisions, and ensure our shared services scale reliably as we expand our product portfolio.

This is a high-leverage individual contributor role that works at the intersection of engineering, product, and security. You will ensure that APIs, authentication, data infrastructure, multi-tenancy, and integration services are built once, built well, and consumed consistently across every K1x product.

The ideal candidate has deep experience building internal platforms or shared services and can translate ambiguous infrastructure needs into structured roadmaps that accelerate product development and improve system reliability.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Platform Strategy & Roadmap
  • •         Own the platform roadmap for shared infrastructure including APIs, authentication and authorization, data layer, multi-tenancy, and CI/CD pipelines
  • •         Define platform investment priorities by balancing internal developer productivity with product-facing reliability and scalability needs
  • •         Drive build-vs-buy decisions for infrastructure components and evaluate emerging technologies for platform adoption
  • •         Coordinate with product-line PMs to identify shared needs, prevent duplicative work across modules, and sequence platform capabilities against product launch timelines
  • Integration Layer
  • •         Own the integration infrastructure strategy powering connections to tax preparation software including CCH Axcess, GoSystem, UltraTax, and ProSystem fx
  • •         Define validation gating, primary key management, and data integrity standards for all outbound integrations
  • •         Improve integration reliability by addressing known pain points
  • •         Write clear PRDs, technical requirement outlines, and acceptance criteria for integration and platform initiatives
  • Data Architecture & Security
  • •         Govern how structured and unstructured tax data flows through the platform, ensuring consistency and traceability across all product modules
  • •         Partner with security and compliance teams to maintain SOC 2 Type II certification and enforce secure document handling across all platform services
  • •         Define data access patterns, retention policies, and audit requirements that support both current products and future data monetization initiatives

Requirements

 Who You Are:

As the ideal candidate for this role, you possess:

    • 5+ years of product management experience with at least 2 years owning platform, infrastructure, or developer tools products
    • Strong technical fluency with the ability to discuss APIs, microservices, data pipelines, authentication patterns, and cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred)
    • Experience building internal platforms or shared services consumed by multiple product teams
    • Track record of defining SLAs, managing technical debt, and making pragmatic build-vs-buy tradeoffs
    • Ability to translate ambiguous infrastructure needs into structured roadmaps with measurable outcomes
    • Excellent written communication with the ability to produce clear PRDs, technical specifications, and acceptance criteria
    • Demonstrated success working cross-functionally across Engineering, Product, Security, and DevOps teams
    • Comfortable operating as a hands-on individual contributor in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

In addition to the above, we're looking for candidates who have:

    • Experience with Azure-hosted infrastructure including AKS, PaaS services, and container orchestration
    • Background in SOC 2, data security, or compliance-driven product environments
    • Familiarity with tax technology, financial services, or document processing platforms
    • Experience with AI/ML platform services, model operations, or training infrastructure
    • Background in integration product management, particularly with enterprise software connectors or marketplace ecosystems
