Job Description

Location: Eastern or Western Europe only.

Remote | Full-time

Compensation: €60K–€80K EUR

We are hiring on behalf of our client who is seeking a skilled Software Engineer - Backend & Data. The organization analyzes over 20 billion search signals to predict the next major consumer trends, enabling brands to optimize their marketing and product development strategies.

In this role, the successful candidate will help design and implement the next iteration of the data pipeline, storage solutions, and APIs backing a high-traffic SaaS platform. This is a remote, full-time contractor position open to qualified candidates located within Europe, operating with a high degree of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pipeline & API Development: Define, design, and implement continuous improvements for the SaaS platform, data storage, and ETL pipelines related to security, quality, testing, automation, and new features.
  • Platform Maintenance: Ensure the high availability, scalability, and performance of the platform, data architecture, and associated internal tools.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Support internal staff and external stakeholders in understanding and maximizing the utility of the platform’s data and tools.
  • Sprint Management: Contribute actively to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and task prioritization; estimate technical effort and assist in establishing realistic project timelines.
  • Project Tracking: Proactively track and report on development progress, identifying and resolving potential delays or technical roadblocks early.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering experience, specifically focused on backend development and ETL pipelines for web applications.
  • Data Expertise: Proven experience collecting, cleaning, structuring, and analyzing large, complex data sets.
  • Technical Stack: High proficiency in Python, Pandas, and SQL.
  • Location: Must be physically located and working within Europe (with capability to align with required operational time zones).
  • Core Competencies: Strong deductive reasoning and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to understand hierarchical data relationships and identify logic gaps.
  • Execution: Self-starter mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently across different timescales.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BI Tools: Proficiency in at least one major business intelligence tool (e.g., Google DataStudio, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Practical experience working within major cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Client-Facing Skills: Excellent analytical capabilities combined with strong, professional customer-facing communication skills and attention to detail.

Interview Process

The selection process is structured to respect the candidate's time while ensuring a strong mutual fit. The stages will proceed as follows:

  1. Asynchronous Personality Assessment (30 minutes)
  2. Hiring Manager Interview (30 minutes)
  3. Technical Case Study (2 hours)
  4. Final Interview (30 minutes) – Discussion of the case study with the CEO and Hiring Manager.
