Job Description

Salvo Software is a global firm that provides cost-effective software solutions to guide enterprises and startups through digital transformation.

Role Overview

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer / SysAdmin to serve as the sole technical owner of our cloud environments and internal systems. In this "department of one" role, you will be the foundational expert ensuring that our hand-selected teams have the secure, high-performance infrastructure they need to deliver excellence to our partners.

This position is primarily DevOps-focused — owning CI/CD, automation, cloud infrastructure, and AI systems — while also covering the IT operational needs of our distributed workforce.

Key Responsibilities

DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure (Primary Focus)

  • Cloud Architecture: Design, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure to support both internal needs and client-facing digital transformations.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD, pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.) to ensure rapid, high-quality software delivery.
  • Containerization: Oversee Docker and Kubernetes environments to ensure scalable and reliable application hosting.
  • Observability: Manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively address performance issues.
  • AI Systems: Set up, integrate, and maintain AI/ML systems and tooling to support the company's growing use of intelligent automation.
  • Programming & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts and internal tooling using Python, Bash, or similar languages.

IT Operations & Security (Supporting Focus)

  • Global Endpoint Management: Own the full lifecycle (provisioning, configuration, and support) of NUC computers and devices for our distributed workforce.
  • Identity & Network Ownership: Maintain Windows domains (Active Directory), VPNs, and secure access controls.
  • Data Security: Define and enforce strict user access levels for sensitive, licensed OEM data to ensure project-based compliance.
  • Infrastructure Projects: Independently execute hardware upgrades and configurations, including factory routers, firewalls, and switches.
  • Technical Support: Act as the sole Tier 2 escalation point for the team, ensuring internal productivity never stalls.

Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years in a DevOps or Cloud Engineering role, with additional background in IT/SysAdmin. Proven ability to operate independently in a solo contributor capacity.
  • Cloud: Hands-on, deep experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure (architecture, cost optimization, security).
  • Programming: Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or similar.
  • CI/CD: Hands-on experience designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar platforms).
  • AI Experience (Preferred): Hands-on experience deploying or managing AI/ML systems or LLM-based tooling.
  • General IT: Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, VPN solutions, and networking hardware (firewalls, switches, routers).
  • Mindset: A "smart decision-maker" who can guide the company's infrastructure strategy while remaining deeply hands-on with daily tasks.
  • Location/Communication: Comfortable supporting a global team across different time zones (US, Mexico, India).
