Job Description

Location: Remote US and Canada (Open to applicants located anywhere within the US and Canada)

Fueled is a leading digital strategy, design, and engineering agency. We are a 300+ person team that has designed and built hundreds of digital products and experiences for brands like Google, Apple, The New York Times, ESPN, Victoria’s Secret, MGM Resorts, Albertsons, and CLEAR.

As an Data Engineer at Fueled, you will drive the technical vision for complex data pipelines, bridging the gap between marketing strategy and data architecture. You will translate ambitious analytics requirements into scalable, secure, and automated data workflows, leveraging your deep understanding of the Google Cloud Platform, ETL processes, and modern data modeling.

You will lead the implementation of end-to-end analytics frameworks – from initial data ingestion in GA4 to complex transformations in BigQuery, and ultimately to consumption in Looker. By managing cloud infrastructure, orchestrating data flows, and defining data models, your expertise will turn raw user behavior into robust, unified insights that power digital solutions and lifecycle marketing for global brands.

Intentionally remote and globally distributed across six continents, our team thrives in a culture that values flexibility, creativity, and cutting-edge technology. Together, we’re shaping the future of digital experiences.

What you will do:

  • Implement robust data ingestion strategies. You will create and configure GA4 properties across multiple sites and lines of business (LOBs). Utilizing Google Tag Manager (GTM), you will define and deploy standard and custom events, establishing triggers and parameters while executing real-time QA to ensure flawless data collection.
  • Architect cloud storage and data pipelines. You will build and manage scalable data environments on the Google Cloud Platform using BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub. You will configure GA4-to-BigQuery exports, ensure reliable data ingestion, and strictly manage IAM and service account permissions for secure access.
  • Drive data consumption and visualization. You will bridge BigQuery and Looker, writing LookML to define semantic models that structure complex raw data into reusable views and metrics. You’ll develop standardized dashboards that support comprehensive global, LOB, and individual site reporting.
  • Orchestrate ETL and reverse ETL workflows. You will build pipelines that aggregate data from varied sources (like Iterable and GA4) into cohesive warehouses and lakes. You will manage data flow orchestration and transformation to keep systems in sync.
  • Enable lifecycle marketing and experimentation. You will leverage your understanding of Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) to establish identity resolution and audience syncing capabilities. You will build the data foundations necessary to support SEO/GEO discoverability and sophisticated experimentation initiatives.

What you will achieve:

  • Week 1: You will hit the ground running, seamlessly integrating with our project team to audit existing analytics setups. You’ll immediately begin structuring foundational GA4 properties and GTM configurations, establishing a reliable baseline for data collection on your first assigned client site.
  • First Month: You will have successfully architected the core ingestion pipelines – connecting GA4 to BigQuery and configuring necessary IAM permissions. You will have executed rigorous QA to validate real-time event data and begun defining the Looker semantic model (LookML) to translate raw storage into reusable, logical views.
  • Month 6: You will have delivered a fully integrated, end-to-end data ecosystem that powers standardized global dashboards and connects cloud data warehouses to downstream CDPs for lifecycle marketing. By consistently delivering exceptional, high-quality data engineering, you will have strongly positioned yourself for a permanent, full-time conversion to our core engineering team.
  • Team Impact: You will have introduced advanced SQL standards, data modeling best practices, and pipeline orchestration frameworks that fill critical technical gaps, leaving a lasting mark on how our agency handles data workflow.
  • Career Growth: You will have established yourself as a trusted advisor to both internal leadership and external clients, with opportunities to influence the agency’s broader technical direction and mentor the next generation of data engineers.

About you:

  • You are an advanced data modeler and SQL expert. You don’t just move data; you structure it for maximum impact. You possess advanced knowledge of SQL and are highly capable of transforming messy, multi-source data into clean, logical semantic models.
  • You have deep Cloud Infrastructure capabilities. You are a specialist within the Google Cloud Platform ecosystem. You know exactly how to leverage BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub to build scalable, automated architectures.
  • You are a master of the modern analytics stack. You are intimately familiar with the end-to-end flow of marketing data, seamlessly navigating GA4, GTM, and Looker/LookML to capture, store, and visualize user behavior.
  • You understand the lifecycle marketing ecosystem. You have hands-on experience with Identity Resolution, audience syncing, and CDP integrations. You know how to extract value from data lakes and warehouses to power actionable marketing pipelines (ETL/reverse ETL).
  • You are a rigorous guardian of data quality. You are detail-oriented when it comes to QA and validation. You ensure event data is processed correctly in real-time, verify that BigQuery tables populate accurately, and maintain the integrity of the data that drives business decisions.
