DroneDeploy—the #1 reality capture platform—is hiring a Customer Success Engineer focused on AEC to strengthen our Customer Experience organization in a fast‑growing region. You’ll lead the post‑sales technical journey for mid‑market and enterprise contractors, turning real jobsite workflows into repeatable playbooks and education through DroneDeploy Academy, live training, and self‑serve assets. As the connective tissue between Customer Success and Sales, you’ll own technical onboarding and adoption programs that accelerate time‑to‑value, protect renewals, and drive expansion across key AEC accounts.
In this role, you’ll design workflows, shape best practices, and collaborate with Product and Engineering on advanced data and integration needs—embedding DroneDeploy across the project lifecycle from early pilots to scaled, multi‑site programs. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on AEC technologist who loves building repeatable assets as much as enabling people, is energized by time on active job sites, and is motivated by measurable outcomes like adoption, NRR, and program expansion.
Work Environment:
Remote, work‑from‑home role based in the United States, partnering with customers and colleagues across U.S. time zones while flexing your day as needed for key customer sessions and internal collaboration.
Able to travel domestically for site visits, customer training, and industry events (approximately 20–25% of the time, with variability based on customer needs and project schedules).
Responsibilities
Lead technical onboarding and adoption for AEC accounts, from first pilot through multi‑project rollout
Partner with CSMs and AEs to protect and grow account value by removing technical blockers and tying use cases to measurable outcomes
Act as a construction and VDC/BIM advisor, aligning DroneDeploy, AI, and integrations to customer workflows, goals, and KPIs
Design and deliver persona‑based training (DroneDeploy Academy, virtual, and in‑field) to drive fast time‑to‑first‑value
Build and maintain AEC playbooks, SOPs, and workflow guides, including QA steps, safety/compliance, and integration patterns
Serve as an integration expert for Civil 3D, ACC, Revit/Navisworks, Procore, ESRI, and related tools, standardizing data flows and templates
Monitor account health and usage data to flag risk early and run targeted interventions (workshops, workflow redesigns, executive readouts)
Own complex technical troubleshooting (high‑accuracy mapping, RTK/GCP, advanced queries, integration edge cases) with Product, Engineering, and Support
Collaborate across Sales, Solutions Engineering, Customer Success, Support, Services, Product, and Marketing to keep materials current and feed AEC field insights into roadmap and content
Requirements
5+ years in solutions engineering, VDC/BIM management, customer success, or similar customer‑facing technical roles in B2B SaaS or construction technology
Meaningful AEC experience (general contracting, design‑build, heavy civil, or related) working with field and/or VDC teams on delivery, coordination, or reality capture
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent technical field, or comparable hands‑on AEC experience
Proven track record implementing or scaling construction workflows (drone or 360 capture, BIM coordination, quantity tracking, site documentation) across multiple projects or regions
Proficiency with Civil 3D, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit/Navisworks, and CAD‑based workflows (importing/exporting models, overlays, drawings)
Hands‑on experience with drones, 360 cameras, or laser scanners, with the ability to advise on hardware options and configuration tradeoffs
Comfort using SaaS usage data and analytics to spot patterns and develop clear, data‑backed recommendations
Strong communication and facilitation skills, translating technical concepts for field supers, VDC managers, and executives and leading cross‑functional workshops
Ability to obtain and maintain a Part 107 UAV pilot’s license within 90 days of hire (if required), and willingness to travel 20–25% for site visits, training, and industry events
Why Join DroneDeploy?
Impact: Shape the future of AEC reality capture by working directly with builders and general contractors who are standardizing drones, 360, AI, and robotics across their portfolios—designing the workflows and playbooks that determine how modern job sites are documented and managed.
Scope: Own high‑impact AEC programs across a mix of mid‑market and enterprise accounts where DroneDeploy is a critical system for progress tracking, safety, coordination, and quality—your work on onboarding, adoption, and optimization directly shows up in NRR and expansion outcomes.
Field and product exposure: Split your time between live job sites, virtual workshops, and internal design sessions—bringing field reality into our product roadmap and influencing how new AI products and capabilities roll out to builders at scale.
Team and culture: Join a tight, collaborative CSE and Solutions team under Customer Experience that shares context, playbooks, and assets across segments (High Velocity, AEC, Energy & Emerging) instead of competing for credit—while partnering closely with CSMs, SEs, Product, and Support.
Growth: Step into a clearly leveled P3‑Proficient role with defined expectations and career paths into senior CSE, solutions architecture, product, or leadership tracks as you grow your impact across strategic accounts and internal initiatives.
Flexibility and time away: Work fully remotely within the U.S., with field travel that stays grounded in customer value rather than constant road time, supported by an unlimited PTO policy that people actually use and a culture that plans around major customer milestones rather than simple hours logged.
