Global Accounting Manager

Actionstep is a pioneer in the development and sale of software-as-a-service (SaaS) products, specializing in the delivery of Legal Practice Management software.  We are a fast growing, dynamic business with a global customer base of more the 30,000 and a team of over 240 in the USA, Australia, UK, Canada and New Zealand.   

The Finance Team is responsible for providing and delivering accurate, timely and expert financial and accounting management services enabling the business to make effective, considered decisions while ensuring regulated and compliant activity.  Strong governance and effective risk management.

THE PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE

The Global Accounting Manager is responsible for owning the global month-end close and accounting execution for Actionstep.

This role ensures the general ledger is accurate, complete, and defensible, and that accounting outputs reliably support monthly management and board reporting led by the Controller. The role is HQ-based and acts as the operational backbone of the accounting function, partnering closely with the Controller on judgment, reporting, audit readiness, and future transaction support.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

In this role, you will…

§  Month-End Close & Accounting Execution: Own and run the global month-end close, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-supported financial results across all legal entities.

§  GL Integrity, Consolidation & Intercompany: Maintain GL integrity and manage global consolidation, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations, to ensure consistent and accurate reporting across entities.

§  Revenue & Complex Accounting: Own revenue recognition group policy and support accounting for complex or non-routine transactions in accordance with established accounting policies.

§  Tax Accounting & Strategy Support: Own tax accounting and support tax strategy by ensuring appropriate recognition of tax positions, while coordinating with external advisors and FinOps on compliance outputs.

§  Financial Reporting: Deliver accurate and timely financial statements and consolidated actuals, and provide variance analysis and accounting context to support monthly management and board reporting led by the Controller, while partnering with FP&A to ensure key SaaS performance metrics are grounded in accurate financial data.

§  Audit and Governance: Lead annual financial audits across multiple regions. Liaise with auditors and legal counsel to ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and financial regulations.

§  Systems and Automation: Drive process improvements, automation, and technology enablement across the accounting function as opportunities arise.

§  Risk Management: Monitor financial risks and maintain strong internal controls to protect company assets and ensure data integrity.

§  Build and maintain strong working relationships with all internal and external parties ensuring transparent, proactive and effective communication always.

§  Attend and proactively contribute to customer, partner and internal meetings with the view to add value in a constructive manner.

Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW AND WHAT WILL HELP MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

§  Master’s degree in Accounting.

§  CPA qualification.

§  Minimum 8 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

§  Strong knowledge of GAAP & IFRS accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

§  Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. NetSuite).

§  Advanced Excel skills.

§  Experience in leading audits and managing compliance processes.

§  Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.

§  Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Desirable:

§  Experience working in a SaaS, professional services, or tech environment.

§  Exposure to multi-entity or international accounting.
