Hunt St

Technical Lead (014-624)

Job Description

Looking for Philippines-based candidates

Job Role: Technical Lead

Compensation range: $1,000 AUD - $4,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement / Employer of Record

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote, so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: We are a product-focused technology studio based in Australia that partners with founders and early-stage companies to transform ideas into working digital products. Our team works closely with startups that are building their first versions of a product or looking to regain momentum on existing platforms.

Role Overview: We are looking for a Technical Lead who can take ownership of end-to-end technical delivery across multiple client projects. This is not a purely hands-down coding role and not a consulting-only role either. You will combine technical leadership, hands-on development, and client communication to ensure projects move from concept to launch successfully.

You will work closely with founders and stakeholders, translating technical progress into clear updates while maintaining strong delivery momentum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end delivery of client projects from scoping and architecture through development and launch.
  • Act as the technical lead and decision-maker, selecting the right stack, tools, and engineering approach for each project.
  • Build across the full stack (frontend, backend, and infrastructure), often serving as the primary engineer during early stages of development.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering workflows and continuously explore new tools that improve delivery speed and quality.
  • Communicate progress clearly with clients during weekly calls, translating technical updates into clear, non-technical insights.
  • Manage delivery timelines and quality, proactively identifying risks and ensuring projects ship successfully.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Comfortable building across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure. Able to quickly learn new tools and frameworks when needed.
    • Frontend: React, Next.js, React Native
    • Backend: Python, Node.js, TypeScript
    • Infrastructure: Cloud services (AWS, GCP, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted coding and development tools in the development workflow and a strong curiosity to continuously explore new tools that accelerate engineering and product delivery.
  • Able to make architecture and tooling decisions, manage delivery outcomes, and take full responsibility for the success of projects.
  • Confident in communicating technical progress to non-technical stakeholders, providing clear updates, and building trust during client interactions.
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving environments with changing requirements, managing multiple priorities, and proactively solving problems without heavy supervision.

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
  • Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
