Job Description

Senior Cloud Platform Engineer

📍 UK or Europe (Remote)

Caterdesk is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to assist in planning and implementing a significant enhancement of our AWS platform.

Our systems are operational, generating revenue, and essential to our business. We manage multiple AWS accounts and regions. The overarching target structure is established, and we require someone with expertise in smoothly transitioning from the current state to the desired future state in a systematic and organised manner.

This position merges architectural strategy with practical implementation. You will be tasked with scoping, staging, and executing substantial infrastructure modifications while ensuring uptime, performance, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Decomposing large infrastructure initiatives into phased delivery plans
  • Designing migration strategies across AWS accounts, environments, and regions
  • Managing Infrastructure as Code through Terraform
  • Engaging with serverless and container-based workloads within AWS
  • Collaborating with engineers specialising in NodeJs and TypeScript
  • Enhancing reliability, observability, and operational standards
  • Ensuring that changes are measurable, reversible, and well-controlled

This is neither a support role nor solely a management position. You will be expected to devise significant infrastructure projects and execute them effectively.

If you have successfully led significant AWS transformation initiatives in live settings and have the knowledge to safely evolve mature systems, we are eager to connect with you.

Remote Workers

This role is fully remote and open to candidates based in the UK or Europe. As part of a distributed team, engineers are expected to work independently and communicate clearly.

You should be comfortable collaborating across time zones and primarily working during UK core hours. We focus on outcomes and reliability rather than attendance.

As this is a remote role, you should be able to work from a reliable environment with stable internet access and a setup that supports regular video collaboration and development work comfortably.

Requirements

Qualifications we are seeking:

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in platform, cloud, or DevOps engineering

• Significant hands-on experience in managing AWS across multi-account and multi-region production environments

• Proficiency in Terraform and best practices related to Infrastructure as Code

• Proven experience in planning and executing large-scale infrastructure migrations or restructuring initiatives

• Experience with operating systems where both system availability and cost efficiency are critical

• A systematic and pragmatic approach to managing complex changes
