Your mission:
As our Senior Game Designer, you’ll help develop and deliver high-quality gameplay features for our AAA projects, across our high-profile co-development partners. You’ll be responsible for designing and implementing gameplay features with a specialised focus on the 3Cs and iterating them into deeply satisfying, release quality gameplay outcomes for our partner’s titles. You will also be acting as an interface with other disciplines, by driving development and testing new features and tools before they are deployed.
What you’ll be doing:
- Taking ownership of player character core mechanics, controls and character camera, making a plan for how they should be used to drive development towards the vision laid out by the Lead Designer
- Create game systems that answer the needs of the client with regard to the targeted experience for the player
- Receiving ,solving and digesting high-level feedback into work that the team can action
- Working with production and the team directly to ensure the outcome of your work to a release-quality standard.
- Standardise, document and communicate your vision to the game team
- Designing features that show you deeply understand the target players and their skillset, and can highlight and overcome obstacles
- Designing systems that allow players to plan and execute varied strategies
- Creating a control scheme that is both comfortable and easily mastered, from a wide range of existing control schemes, by applying the relevant ergonomic principles
- Defining the information needed by the player to make interesting choices and adapted to their situation in the game, interface or menus
- Helping test new features and tools for the design team and provide feedback on ways to improve tools, methods, bugs etc.
Requirements
What we need from you:
- Wealth of knowledge of contemporary games and design solutions that you can use to galvanise your designs and share with your team
- Extensive experience working within the games industry, with experience working on 1+ AAA titles for console and/or PC
- Highly proficient in 3Cs game and system design
- Experience in prototyping gameplay mechanics using Unreal Engine Blueprints
- Passion for creating fun, compelling and addictive user experiences
- Good project management and time management skills with a proven ability to focus on priorities, solve problems, juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, all while maintaining a positive outlook
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Ability to understand and communicate in technical language
- Experience in utilising JIRA task management
- Experience writing and explaining high quality and thorough design documentation
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines
