Job Role: Interior Design Drafter

Work Schedule: 40hrs / week

Salary Budget: 1,500 - 2,000 AUD / Month

Contract Type: Independent Contractor

Work Set-up: Remote

A full-service design and renovation firm based in Perth, Australia, specializing in luxury home transformations. With nearly two decades of experience, the team is dedicated to crafting timeless, personalized, and refined spaces that elevate and reflect each client's lifestyle. Their philosophy blends creativity with meticulous craftsmanship, intentionally limiting the number of projects taken on each year to ensure every detail receives focused attention.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Interior Design Documenter to join our design team on a remote contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an overseas-based contractor with a strong understanding of interior detailing, cabinetry, joinery, and construction documentation.

This role is ideal for someone who is technically strong, highly organised, and confident in preparing complete documentation sets for high-end residential projects. You’ll be working closely with our Perth-based design team, translating concept designs into accurate and buildable plans, adapting to Australian building and design standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Producing complete sets of construction drawings and interior documentation using AutoCAD
  • Preparing detailed cabinetry and joinery drawings, including sections and elevations.
  • Developing layouts, electrical plans, finishes schedules, and other key documentation
  • Translating concept designs and sketches into detailed technical documentation ready for construction
  • Ensuring all documentation aligns with Australian building codes and standards.
  • Maintain organised drawing files, templates, and blocks for efficiency

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (experience with xrefs, paper space/model space, layers, blocks, etc.)
  • A digital portfolio demonstrating documentation for cabinetry, joinery, and interior fit-outs
  • At least 2 years’ post-graduate experience in residential interior design documentation
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and translate design intent into construction-level detail
  • Experience preparing full documentation packages including:
  1. Floor plans
  2. Elevations and sections
  3. Reflected ceiling plans
  4. Electrical and lighting layouts
  5. Cabinetry and joinery details
  6. Finishes schedules and specifications
  • Strong understanding of materials and finishes, particularly for kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes, and custom joinery
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to resolving issues
  • Ability to work independently, follow a brief, and manage timelines efficiently

Preferred (but not essential):

  • Familiarity with Australian building codes and residential construction standards
  • Exposure to high-end or luxury design projects
