Director, Accounting Operations

Job Description

The Director of Accounting Operations drives process improvement projects and establishes best in class accounting operations focused on efficiency, accuracy, and cross-functional alignment. You will play a crucial role within the Accounting and Finance team, reporting to the Corporate Controller. We ask that you have experience leading teams, analytical thinking, and a deep understanding of accounting operations and accounting flow of transactions. This is a fully remote role. 


Responsibilities:
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and scalability of accounting operations. Ensure process improvement projects include assessment and implementation of necessary internal controls.
  • Oversee accounting operations project portfolio, ensuring all projects are scoped and implemented according to plan.
  • Assess and select appropriate tools for us that promote automation and streamlining of accounting tasks and reporting.
  • Identify and lead broad prioritization of accounting and finance organization projects. 
  • Deliver continuous improvement by reviewing process workflows, implementing and implementing process improvements.
  • Manage projects, ensuring agreement on overall goals and timelines.
  • Lead any special projects that span multiple teams across Finance, Accounting, and other teams.
  • Lead accounting operations teams, including accounts payable, procurement, and sales incentive compensation.

  • Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance  
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 5+ years in a management or operations-focused role.
  • Experience moving projects from brainstorming into defined requirements into execution and communications
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Accounting operations and accounting flow of transactions background
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Assess and implement key control points within processes

  • Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
  • Prompt and regular attendance at assigned work location.
  • Capability to remain seated in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
  • Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate keyboard, computer and other office-related equipment.
  • No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs of force (e.g., lifting a computer / laptop) may be required.
  • Capability to work with leadership, employees, and members in an appropriate manner.
  • Travel, as needed.
