About the role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sales Development Representative to join our dynamic sales team. This role is critical in identifying and qualifying potential opportunities, managing inbound and outbound sales efforts, and fostering strong relationships with developers and their consultants.

The successful candidate will be responsible for targeting developers across England who require Biodiversity Units for their planning applications. They will also manage inbound inquiries, ensuring they are effectively qualified and directed to the appropriate channels. The role requires a proactive, target-driven individual who can create and execute strategic outreach campaigns while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to support company objectives.

Additionally, the BDM will support CRM data management, ensure timely response to client inquiries, and contribute to promotional activities such as events and webinars. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the planning system, outbound sales experience, and the ability to develop strategic partnerships that drive business growth.

Prospecting

  • Understanding which developers & specific developments it is appropriate for us to contact and having an efficient approach to turning this knowledge into prioritised campaigns.

Communication

  • Creating and maintaining effective and professional content to support outbound sales and to help demonstrate the value Environment Bank can deliver for developers.

Outbound Sales

  • Using different approaches including email, phone, events, and referrals to engage with the right people to start a conversation about BNG and how Environment Bank can help.

Opportunity Identification

  • Actively identify and leverage any opportunities for sales, land, or strategic partnerships that may arise.

Lead Generation

  • Ensuring that prospecting and outreach support the primary goal of generating qualified leads (developers requiring biodiversity units) for the business.

Building and Nurturing Relationships

  • Develop and maintain strong commercial and advisory relationships with developers, their advisors, and the wider sector.
  • Utilise existing networks and relationship-building skills to position Environment Bank as the go-to solution for unlocking offsite BNG needs for clients.

Requirements

Skills & Experience

  • A passion for the environment and restoring nature
  • Previous experience in outbound sales or SDR roles
  • Experience working directly with developers and their consultancy teams to facilitate planning consents would be beneficial to the role
  • Strong understanding of CRM systems (experience with Hubspot is a plus) and Microsoft 365 preferable
  • Proven track record in identifying and securing new business opportunities, expanding the client base, and driving revenue growth
  • Ability to review legislation, regulatory requirements, and guidance
  • A good understanding of the English planning system and developments is desirable, but not essential
