We’re Navro, a rapidly scaling B2B payments startup, and we’re looking for a bold, strategic, and hands-on Engineering  Team Lead to drive engineering excellence and build scalable financial systems. You won’t just be managing a team - you’ll be mentoring, guiding, and making critical technical decisions that shape the future of our platform.

We’re bringing you in for your expertise, and your relentless drive .You will be responsible for understanding both internal and external Navro client needs and translating these needs into clear detailed requirements for the Navro development team.

The role 

An experienced Engineering Team Lead with a strong background in backend development and foreign exchange (FX) systems. You will lead one of our engineering squads, ensuring the delivery of scalable, compliant, and resilient backend systems that power our platform. In addition to your technical expertise, you will be responsible for people management, team development, and fostering a high-performing engineering culture.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Leading and mentoring a squad of backend engineers, running 1:1s to help them grow technical and leadership skills.

• Architecting, developing, and optimising backend services for FX, payments, banking integrations, and treasury operations.
• Driving engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing strategies, and CI/CD automation.
• Ensuring backend systems scale and perform efficiently under high transactional loads.
• Managing technical debt, system resilience, and security for mission-critical financial services.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Product, Finance, Compliance) to align engineering with business strategy.
• Supporting hiring efforts to attract, onboard, and develop top engineering talent.
• Defining technical vision for backend development and ensuring alignment with company goals

What We’re Looking For:

⚡ Experienced Engineering Leader – You’ve led backend engineering teams and know how to manage, mentor, and grow engineers.
⚡ Backend & FinTech Expertise – Strong experience building high-scale, low-latency Java backend systems in payments, FX, or financial services.
⚡ Domain Knowledge – We deliver payments, but FX is where our profit comes from. This role is pivotal in the success of our business and you will bring solid experience dealing with FX.
⚡ Java & Spring Boot Mastery – Deep proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and reactive frameworks (WebFlux/Project Reactor).
⚡ Cloud & DevOps Knowledge – Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines.
⚡ API & Microservices – Expertise in designing, developing, and securing RESTful and event-driven microservices.
⚡ Financial Systems Experience – Knowledge of multi-currency transactions, payment flows, reconciliation, and ledger management.
⚡ Regulatory & Compliance Mindset – Understanding of security standards, audits, and compliance in financial applications.
⚡ Problem-Solver – You anticipate challenges, propose solutions, and deliver with urgency.
⚡ Collaboration & Communication – You work seamlessly with non-technical stakeholders, translating business needs into technical solutions.
