About the role
As part of the Empowering Insights & Reporting Pillar at Attentive, the Business Intelligence Engineering group transforms complex data into actionable insights and impactful reporting. We empower clients and internal teams with the metrics, analytics, reports, and visualizations needed to make informed decisions and shape strategies that drive meaningful growth.

As a full stack Software Engineer II on the BI Reporting Team, you will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to develop innovative applications that help marketers connect with consumers. You will build and maintain client-facing UI reports, charts and dashboards along with the back end services that power them, using React with TypeScript and Java Spring Boot. You’ll work with guidance from senior developers and will become increasingly independent over time to the point of leading your own projects.


What You'll Accomplish
  • Develop and maintain amazing user experiences, taking responsibility for code quality, scalability, reliability and performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build applications that support communication channels for marketers
  • Partner with Product Management and Design to meet the user’s needs without sacrificing quality or accruing tech debT
  • Improve code quality through code reviews, testing, and advocating for best practicesIdentify and address technical debt to ensure the long-term health of our codebase
  • Contribute to technical decisions and stay current with emerging technologies to enhance our products

  • Your Expertise
  • You have worked professionally with web technologies for 3+ years
  • Experience building and maintaining scalable, high-performance applications
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, with proficiency in a typed language such as Java/Kotlin, TypeScript, or C++/C#
  • Front end development experience with frameworks like React or Angular
  • Development experience with databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Solid understanding of software development best practices, including code reviews, writing tests, and continuous integration
  • ​​Excellent communication skills, and the proven ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • You have experience being on-call and respond quickly during an incident to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • You are excited by new technologies, but are conscious of choosing them for the right reasons

  • Nice to Haves
  • Proven experience working with data, including SQL, data analysis, and data engineering
  • Familiarity with AWS services, cloud infrastructure, and workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or Temporal
  • Practical knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, including Docker and Kubernetes, for containerization and orchestration

  • What We Use
  • Our infrastructure runs primarily in Kubernetes hosted in AWS’s EKS
  • Infrastructure tooling includes Istio, Datadog, Terraform, CloudFlare, and Helm
  • Our backend is Java / Spring Boot and Python microservices, built with Gradle, coupled with things like DynamoDB, Kinesis, AirFlow, Snowflake, Postgres, Planetscale, and Redis, hosted via AWS
  • Our frontend is built with React and TypeScript, and uses best practices like GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright
