We are currently seeking a mid-level Software Engineer II to join our Information Systems team to develop and maintain software systems that support the distribution of incentives for clean energy resources. In this role you will leverage cutting-edge technologies to build software platforms that support nationwide energy efficiency and distributed energy resource programs for a rapidly growing company in the clean tech industry. This unique position is perfect for individuals with technical prowess that want to have an impact on energy efficiency markets and greenhouse gas reductions through our work for major North American utilities and other clients around the country.

Energy Solutions offers a remote-friendly work environment for staff located throughout the United States. We also have offices in California, Oregon, Illinois and Massachusetts for those who wish to work from one of our offices.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain web applications and other enterprise software systems using Python, Django and other front-end technologies.
  • Review functional requirements and draft implementation plans.
  • Contribute new unit tests and promptly fix any tests that fail continuous integration checks.
  • Work with internal clients to debug, reproduce, document, and fix support problems for production systems.
  • Perform code reviews on colleagues' contributions to the codebase.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies such as standup meetings and pointing discussions.
  • Bring technical analysis to discussions with internal clients, project managers, and other software engineers.
  • Specialize in one or more codebases in order to be to go-to engineer for questions about bugs or new feature implementation plans or how best to use Django for a specific problem.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science AND 5 years of relevant professional experience or master’s degree in a related field.
    • Candidates with more than 5 years of work experience using related technologies are also encouraged to apply.
  • Intermediate experience with Python and Django is required. Similar object-oriented languages and frameworks will also be considered.
  • Significant experience with relational databases including MySQL, SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle or similar.
  • API experience using Django REST Framework is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills and an enthusiasm for collaborative software development.
  • Energy related professional experience is a plus.
Compensation to commensurate with experience with the pay band of $100k - $115k/Annually

Office Locations and a Remote Workforce

Energy Solutions operates as a predominantly remote workforce with offices in six different locations. Employees who reside within 40 miles of an office (except New York) will be assigned to that location, though in-office attendance requirements may vary by team.
