Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is an individual contributor responsible for monthly accounting close, year-end financial audits, accruals, preparing journal entries, and reconciliations. You will also contribute to overall accounting process improvements and other financial operations.
Responsibilities:
You will perform month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process.
You will compile and analyze information to prepare journal entries.
You will work with internal teams to ensure accuracy in accruals.
You will reconcile and balance general ledger accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
You will collaborate with other departments to gain a working knowledge of operations affecting financial and management reporting.
You will help complete annual tax filings such as Business Property Tax returns for office locations.
You will complete other tasks like accounting and calculating for AP, corporate credit card, and employee travel expense, and commission accruals.
You will participate in the annual audit process by preparing detailed schedules and providing documentation to external auditors, aiming to uphold our record of clean audits.
You will assess and document conclusions around technical accounting processes.
You will be exposed to other accounting functions to allow for cross training.
You will understand the accounting and operational flow of incentives and sales commissions, from policy to payout.
You will calculate and record deferred commission plans, and manage the schedule and amortization of commissions.
You will partner with Sales Operations to ensure completeness of data used to calculate sales commission earnings, accruals and deferred cost assets.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required.
5+ years of relevant accounting experience; with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and startup pre-ipo to ipo experience preferred.
Understanding of US GAAP accounting standards, with strong GAAP technical accounting skill-set and broad knowledge of external reporting requirements (some SEC-level experience preferred).
ERP system experience (Workday a plus).
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
Capability to remain seated in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate keyboard, computer and other office-related equipment.
