Senior Accountant

Job Description

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is an individual contributor responsible for monthly accounting close, year-end financial audits, accruals, preparing journal entries, and reconciliations. You will also contribute to overall accounting process improvements and other financial operations.


Responsibilities:
  • You will perform month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process.
  • You will compile and analyze information to prepare journal entries.
  • You will work with internal teams to ensure accuracy in accruals.
  • You will reconcile and balance general ledger accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • You will collaborate with other departments to gain a working knowledge of operations affecting financial and management reporting.
  • You will help complete annual tax filings such as Business Property Tax returns for office locations.
  • You will complete other tasks like accounting and calculating for AP, corporate credit card, and employee travel expense, and commission accruals.
  • You will participate in the annual audit process by preparing detailed schedules and providing documentation to external auditors, aiming to uphold our record of clean audits.
  • You will assess and document conclusions around technical accounting processes.
  • You will be exposed to other accounting functions to allow for cross training.
  • You will understand the accounting and operational flow of incentives and sales commissions, from policy to payout.
  • You will calculate and record deferred commission plans, and manage the schedule and amortization of commissions.
  • You will partner with Sales Operations to ensure completeness of data used to calculate sales commission earnings, accruals and deferred cost assets.

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience; with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and startup pre-ipo to ipo experience preferred.
  • Understanding of US GAAP accounting standards, with strong GAAP technical accounting skill-set and broad knowledge of external reporting requirements (some SEC-level experience preferred).
  • ERP system experience (Workday a plus).
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

  • Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
  • Capability to remain seated in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
  • Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate keyboard, computer and other office-related equipment.
