What will you be doing as a Compliance Analyst?

As our Compliance Analyst, you'll play a pivotal role in designing cutting-edge processes and safeguarding our financial integrity—while embodying the true spirit of a self-starter. You’ll be expected to dig deep to solve challenges, take initiative, and always keep the bigger picture in mind to make holistic, impactful decisions.

The Compliance Analyst will be responsible for supporting Humi’s AML/CTF compliance function by conducting client onboarding reviews, monitoring transactional activity, and assisting in the development of procedural documentation and internal controls. This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to compliance monitoring and risk assessment.

As a Compliance Analyst, you’ll be responsible for: 

1. Client Identification & Due Diligence

  • Assist in client identification and verification during onboarding using Persona.
  • Conduct enhanced due diligence (EDD) for high-risk clients and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Investigate flagged client behavior and assess potential AML/CTF risks.

2. Transaction Monitoring & Investigations

  • Review daily flagged transactions to identify unusual or suspicious activity.
  • Assist in transaction monitoring (TM) efforts to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations.
  • Conduct background checks on clients and counterparties to assess risk levels.
  • Document findings and escalate concerns to senior compliance personnel when needed.

3. Compliance Program & Controls

  • Help draft and refine procedural documents and internal controls for AML/CTF compliance.
  • Support the development and maintenance of policies and guidelines to strengthen the compliance function.
  • Assist in regulatory reporting and record-keeping to maintain audit readiness.

4. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including CX (and other customer facing teams), Finance, and Product, to ensure alignment with compliance requirements.
  • Stay informed on evolving AML/CTF regulations, ministerial directives, and industry best practices.
  • Provide support during internal audits, regulatory examinations, and mock audits.
  • Recommend improvements to existing compliance processes based on emerging risks and trends.

What are we looking for in a Compliance Analyst?

  • Background in Finance, Business, Law, Criminology, or a related field.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in compliance, AML investigations, or financial crime risk management.
  • Familiarity with AML/CTF regulations (e.g., FINTRAC, MSBA) and related compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with Persona or other identity verification/KYC tools is a plus.
  • Strong Analytical & Investigative Skills: Demonstrated ability to interpret complex data and solve challenges through deep analysis.
  • Self-Starter Attitude: Proven initiative in digging deep to address challenges and proactively take action.
  • Holistic Thinking: Demonstrated capacity to see the bigger picture, make informed decisions, and remedy recurring issues.
  • Customer Empathy: Proven commitment to facilitating smooth customer onboarding with a deep understanding of customer experience.
  • Effective Communication: Possesses excellent written and verbal skills, with a track record of clearly articulating complex ideas.
  • Detail-Oriented: Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail while managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
  • Sense of Urgency: Proven ability to thrive in dynamic conditions, ensuring that no task or issue is left unaddressed.
