Overview

This individual will be responsible for championing the integration of monitoring practices into our software development and operations processes. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, operations, and system experts, the Site Reliability Engineer will ensure the reliability, performance, and availability of our systems throughout the software development lifecycle.  

Accountability Key Initiatives

• Design and implement monitoring measures into the software development and deployment pipeline.
• Conduct monitoring assessments, availability testing, and system performance reviews to identify and improve system reliability.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to automate alerting processes and integrate monitoring tools into the continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.
• Provide guidance and support for incident response and contribute to the development of incident response plans.
• Stay informed about the latest monitoring tools, technologies, and best practices, and actively propose innovative solutions to enhance our reliability posture.

• Collaborate with development and operations teams to embed monitoring into the DevOps process.
• Implement monitoring best practices for cloud infrastructure and containerized applications.
• Conduct comprehensive analysis and assessments of events for system improvement.
• Work closely with developers to improve monitoring insights across environments.
• Diagnose performance constraints to construct actionable feedback for engineering teams.
• Assist in defining and maintaining monitoring policies and procedures.
• Provide expertise in reliability incident response and contribute to the development of incident response plans.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven experience in site reliability or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of monitoring principles and best practices.
• Experience with monitoring tools, performance analysis, and capacity planning (e.g., New Relic, Application Insights).
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Ability to query, analyze, and report on data collected (e.g., SQL, KQL, NRQL).
• Passionate about diagnostic analysis and system-level troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with enterprise cloud environments and disaster recovery frameworks.
• Understanding of version control systems, particularly Git.
• Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
