We are seeking a Data Science leader to lead our Data Science team. Ideal candidate is a hands-on thought leader who can identify business problems (preferably in consumer lending), translate insights into actionable recommendations, develop AI/ML stack solutions, drive test/learn plans, present recommendations, and independently deploy these solutions into production – with the capability to lead, coach, mentor or upskill team members to do the same. 

The candidate should have a high sense of urgency, a creative mind, great communication skills, and a strong background in programming and AI/ML.

This role will report directly to the Chief Data and Analytics Officer.



Role Responsibilities
  • Lead a data science team supporting our credit strategy organization. Accountable for recruitment, development, and scoping new roles as well as managing headcount requests and budgets
  • Collaborate with Chief Credit officer and credit strategy team to prioritize capabilities, initiatives and identify risks and opportunities for pending initiatives
  • Liaise with Capital, Product and Technology teams on capabilities, solutions, and provide infrastructure roadmap for related data science priorities. 
  • The ideal candidate will work with a high sense of urgency and be willing to roll up their sleeves and be hands-on as needed

  • Role Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years working experience in the field of Data Science
  • Minimum of 7 years experience developing credit models in support of credit lending decisions. Experience fintech type organizations a plus
  • Minimum of 3 years experience leading and developing data science teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must demonstrate strong ability to collaborate within cross functional teams, serve and influence various stakeholders/leaders.  Experience and capable of public speaking a plus.
  • Foundational understanding of the technical aspects of Data Science – knowledgeable in statistics, machine-learning techniques, experimental designs, and know how to obtain and use big data (structured and un-structured).
  • Experience in building and deploying AI/ML stacks via CI/CD and pipeline orchestration tools in cloud production environments/containers in ECS/EKS required – including data pipeline, CDK/SDK, Cloudformation/Terraform, and familiar with AWS services and various ML/Deep Learning tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or other quantitative major. Masters or PhD is preferred. 
  • Proficient in writing your own SQL and Python including machine-learning libraries (panda, scikit-learn, matplotlib, etc.).  Experience using Amazon AWS cloud-based computing stack a plus.
