At Aledade, we empower primary care physicians with technology to keep their patients healthy, preventing unnecessary hospitalizations.

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead the development, implementation, and optimization of Aledade Infrastructure, Dev tools/productivity platforms. In this strategic leadership role, you will manage a talented engineering team responsible for building and maintaining scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-based infrastructure and developer tools. You will work closely with product, engineering, security, third party software providers and operations teams to drive innovation, streamline workflows, and optimize the developer experience.

We use AWS (EC2, Aurora, RDS, S3, Lambda, EKS, IAM, KMS etc), Kafka, Databricks as foundational parts of our infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on leveraging these services to create and optimize Infrastructure to run Aledade production systems. You will also use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, supporting a modern, efficient development pipeline and platform. You will also be responsible for Observability, Monitoring and test automation platforms.

In this role, you will also drive improvements in CI/CD practices, automate manual workflows, and ensure the seamless integration of development and infrastructure operations. Guide your teams through technical challenges, and optimize both performance and cost efficiency in the cloud environment. You will also be responsible for cloud cost, and budgets.

As a Director, you’ll foster a high-performance culture, mentor engineers, and work to ensure security, compliance, and disaster recovery across all cloud infrastructure. You will also play a key role in defining the future of our cloud platform and developer toolset.



Primary Duties:
  • Build a high performing team by hiring and nurturing engineering talent.
  • Strong technical leadership - drive technical solutioning and building roadmaps.
  • Set aggressive and clear goals and remove all roadblocks for the team to achieve them.
  • Working seamlessly and collaboratively with stakeholders across Aledade to achieve business outcomes.
  • Work closely with engineering leaders to drive engineering excellence in our processes and systems.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • BS/BTech (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field required.
  • 10+ years of production-level experience as an engineer and technical lead building highly scalable and reliable software. 
  • 5+ years of managerial experience building and leading technical engineering teams.

  • Leadership:
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and scaling engineering teams, with an emphasis on mentorship, fostering a collaborative culture, and driving technical excellence.
  • Ability to set and execute a strategic vision for cloud platforms and infrastructure, aligning engineering initiatives with business goals.
  • Experience in optimizing cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency without sacrificing performance, reliability, or security.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, especially in high-pressure situations and complex technical challenges.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proven ability to scale technology platforms and teams in a rapidly expanding or a startup environment, with a focus on agility, speed, and resourcefulness.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Expertise in IaC tools such as Pulumi, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar technologies. Proven ability to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Platform Engineering: Strong background in designing, deploying, and managing Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions, with a focus on scalability, performance, and security in cloud environments.
  • Cloud Infrastructure & Architecture: Expertise in AWS architecture, including compute (EC2, Lambda), storage (S3, EFS), networking (VPC, Route 53), and security (IAM, KMS, CloudTrail).
  • DevOps & CI/CD Practices: Proven ability to design and scale CI/CD pipelines using AWS services and other tools, with a focus on automation and continuous delivery.
  • Security & Compliance: In-depth knowledge of cloud security best practices, including IAM roles and policies, data encryption, secure application architecture, and regulatory compliance (e.g., SOC2, GDPR).
  • Monitoring & Performance Optimization: Experience in leveraging CloudWatch, X-Ray, and other AWS tools to monitor infrastructure and application performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
