Principal/Senior Product Designer

Job Description

The Role

We're looking for an entrepreneurial product designer to join our small and wildly talented team. You’ll work on a variety of projects, both for internal and external customers. We build products that help firefighters protect lives and our forests and support customers across multiple industries (utilities, forestry, renewables, etc) to protect their assets and keep their employees and customers safe.  You will work in collaboration with engineering, product, customer success, and operations to develop products and processes in a stable, scalable, and cost-efficient way. As we grow you’ll also have the opportunity to help us scale and nurture the design function at Pano.

What you’ll do
  • Take complex and ambiguous problems and turn them into simple, intuitive, and useful products that help us fulfill our mission and solve our customers' needs.
  • Bring product initiatives to life by creating journey maps, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, pixel-perfect UI, interaction designs, and more.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize product requirements.
  • Communicate effectively by presenting conceptual ideas, design rationale, and the specifics of the user-centered design process to senior management and during all-hands meetings.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and validate design decisions.
  • Champion user-centered design principles and practices within the team and organization.
  • Iterate rapidly across multiple projects efficiently and effectively, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.

  • What you’ll bring
  • 8+ years of experience researching, designing, and shipping software products/features.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing the way you think and work.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous work.
  • Humility, empathy, and open-mindedness - no egos.

  • Nice to have
  • Experience working in an early-stage startup (<100 engineers).
  • Experience building AI products, complex UX workflows, and/or enterprise software.
  • Experience working on observability, mapping, monitoring, and/or alerting products.
  • Previous experience working as a firefighter or at least passion for climate change adaptation and/or firefighting.
