Principal Data Scientist

Job Description

We are looking for a Principal Data Scientist who will report directly to the Growth Department leadership and will be responsible for supporting Sword Health's rapid growth by shaping the data strategy and ensuring that growth initiatives are powered by deep insights, predictive models, and rigorous data analysis.


What you'll be doing:
  • Help establish a culture of evidence-based decision-making by providing actionable insights based on data analysis;
  • Design and implement advanced predictive models (e.g., churn prediction, lifetime value estimation, user segmentation) to forecast key metrics and identify levers for growth;
  • Leverage advanced programming and processing of large datasets;
  • Collaborate on designing A/B tests and other experimentation frameworks to validate hypotheses and measure the impact of growth initiatives;
  • Work with product, marketing, engineering, and finance teams to help align on growth strategies to improve member acquisition, retention and engagement;
  • Built scalable solutions to automated systems for tracking and analyzing data;
  • Help build our reporting infrastructure and dashboards.

  • What you need to have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience;
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Science roles;
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R;
  • Strong SQL skills for querying and working with databases;
  • Experience with data manipulation libraries;
  • Experience working with marketing data, understanding how to integrate data from multiple channels (email, web, paid ads, social media, etc.), and using this data to optimize marketing campaigns;
  • Proven experience in designing, analyzing, and interpreting A/B tests and other experiments (e.g., multi-arm bandits, incrementality testing);
  • Experience in solving complex business problems with data, being able to use complex tools and techniques;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights;
  • Previous Experience using descriptive and inferential statistics in the context of a product;
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to structure and manage data for efficient decision-making;
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English.
