Marketing Design Lead

Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Marketing Design Lead to run our marketing design function. This player-coach will be responsible for the development and execution of compelling marketing assets that elevate our brand, engage our audience, and drive business impact. This includes doing hands-on design work as well as managing agencies and freelance resources to bring their vision to life. 

Key Responsibilities:
Design Leadership: Define and drive the design vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall brand and business goals.
Campaign & Asset Development: Oversee the ideation, development, and execution of creative campaigns and assets across digital, print, video, social, and other channels.
Resource Management: Manage agencies and freelancers — ideally pulling from your own network of trusted resources — to ensure excellent execution. Own the resourcing strategy as the company and the marketing team evolve, determining the right balance of in-house and external resources. 
Brand Evolution: Codify the recent evolution of our brand’s visual identity, updating brand guidelines to ensure consistency and integrity across all creative assets.
Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, product, and other departments to align marketing design efforts with broader strategic objectives.
Stakeholder Communication: Present creative concepts and campaigns to internal stakeholders, incorporating feedback while maintaining the integrity of the creative vision.
Performance Optimization: Utilize analytics and insights to evaluate the effectiveness of creative campaigns and identify opportunities for improvement.
Budget Management: Manage the creative budget, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.

Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Marketing Design Lead or in a similar role
* Strong design skills, ideally in multiple disciplines, to execute great work
* Experience effectively managing agency and freelance resources to extend marketing design capacity
* Comfortable navigating a fast-paced and dynamic early startup environment
* A strong portfolio showcasing diverse creative work across multiple channel
* Deep understanding of design principles, branding, and storytelling
* Proactive, strategic, and self-motivated
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Skills:
* Proficiency with creative tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and other relevant platforms
* At least 7 years experience 

Preferred:
* Previous experience leading a brand redesign or evolution / refresh
* Previous experience working on large integrated campaigns

Big Plus:
* Previous experience in both an agency environment and in-house at a tech startup 
* Knowledge of DTC / Ecommerce space
* Command of several design disciplines (animation, web design, etc.)
