Their technology-driven approach ensures seamless user experiences across e-commerce platforms, and they are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead and scale their development efforts.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Director of Engineering to oversee our technical strategy, development, and integration initiatives. This leadership role will be instrumental in enhancing our e-commerce platform, optimizing performance, and driving innovation. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with deep expertise in the Shopify ecosystem, front-end and back-end development, and integration with third-party tools and services.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the engineering team to develop and maintain a best-in-class e-commerce platform. 
• Architect and optimize Shopify-based solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
• Oversee front-end (React, Liquid, JavaScript, etc.) and back-end (Node.js, Ruby on Rails, etc.) development  to create a seamless and high-performance shopping experience.
• Implement and maintain integrations with third-party tools, including payment gateways, analytics, CRM, ERP, and logistics platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Marketing, and Operations, to align engineering initiatives with business goals. 
• Establish best practices for code quality, security, deployment processes, and DevOps. 
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to drive innovation and improve efficiency.
• Develop and manage engineering budgets, hiring, and vendor relationships.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. 
• Strong expertise in Shopify Plus, Shopify’s APO ecosystem, and e-commerce best practices. 
• Proven experience in front-end technologies (React, Liquid, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS).
• Proficiency in backend development using Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Python, or other relevant frameworks.
• Experience integrating third-party APOs, middleware solutions, and cloud-based platforms.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevcOps, and scalable cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Ability to balance technical execution with business strategy and user experience.
• Strong leadership, mentoring and communication skills.
