Senior Accountant

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. In this role, you will bring a deep understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), proficiency with accounting systems, and a strong commitment to driving an efficient monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting process. You excel at maintaining accuracy and attention to detail, thrive under tight deadlines, and collaborate effectively across teams in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

 

Responsibilities:

• Support the accounting close process by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses across assigned areas of responsibility.

• Execute and maintain accounting and reporting controls, including departmental close packages, financial reporting reconciliations, and efficiency metrics.

• Support internal and external audit requirements, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies.

• Perform accounting and control procedures for complex and high-visibility transactions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting operations.

• Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and management reporting, including variance analysis.

 

What we look for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably a mix of private and public accounting.

• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP with recent experience in general ledger accounting at a publicly traded company.

• Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end accounting processes and financial statement line items.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, with a proven track record of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.

• Proactive mindset with a passion for streamlining processes and enhancing efficiency.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, data analysis, visualization, and complex formulas like XLOOKUPs and conditional statements.

• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is highly preferred.

• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and various stakeholders.

• Demonstrated enthusiasm for technology and a proactive approach to learning new skills and systems.

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)

USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $100,000 - $120,000
USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $89,000 - $109,000
