The Head of Development owns PFM's engineering organization end-to-end. This is a high-ownership role for someone who leads from the front - writing code, making architectural decisions, and building with AI at their side. You will set the technical bar, drive consistent delivery, and be the bridge between engineering and company leadership. In a fast-moving environment, priorities shift without warning. You are expected to adapt immediately, re-prioritize without friction, and always be thinking 10 steps ahead - anticipating architectural needs, scaling challenges, and product directions before they are formally asked for. We expect you to be deeply hands-on with Claude Code and AI-assisted development: not as a buzzword, but as a core part of how you work every day.
We are not looking for someone who simply manages a team. We are looking for a builder - someone who ships fast, holds the bar high, and uses AI as a genuine force multiplier. You will own engineering end-to-end, integrate Claude Code and AI- assisted workflows into every layer of development, and drive Prop Firm Match into its next phase of growth. Priorities shift. Requirements evolve. The roadmap moves. You must be able to adapt instantly, anticipate what is coming before it is asked, and always be thinking 10 steps ahead of the current feature set. ▸  10+ years building and scaling production applications. You are a strong engineer first - AI amplifies your output, it does not define your identity.
▸ Proven record of architecting and shipping complex, real-world systems from scratch
▸ Full-stack depth across the PFM stack -  not just familiarity, but hands-on production experience
▸ Ability to make architectural decisions with long-term reliability in mind, not short-term shortcuts

We build with AI. You must have direct, hands-on experience using Claude Code and AI- assisted tooling to ship production features -  not just experiment with it.
▸ Demonstrable experience using Claude Code to generate, refactor, and ship real features in production
▸ Ability to define prompt engineering strategies and agentic workflows that meaningfully accelerate delivery
▸ Experience integrating AI into code generation, test coverage, documentation, and debugging pipelines
▸ Strong judgment on where AI adds genuine leverage vs. where engineering depth is irreplaceable
▸ Track record of measurable productivity gains through AI tooling -  not just familiarity, but results

▸ More importantly, you should be anticipating those pivots before they happen - proactively flagging architectural implications, scaling constraints, and product dependencies so leadership is never caught off-guard.
▸ We want someone who thinks about where the product is going six months from now while shipping what is needed today.

𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬

We keep the process structured, transparent, and respectful of your time. At each stage, you will gain a clearer view of the role, the team, and what success would look like at PFM.

1. Application screening
   We review your CV and relevant experience to understand your technical background, leadership scope, product environment fit, and overall alignment with the role. At this stage, you also get an early indication of whether the position is likely to match your profile and seniority.
2. Questionnaire / initial filtering
   You will complete a short self-paced questionnaire designed to help us better understand your background, leadership approach, communication style, and overall fit for the role. This stage gives you a simple way to share your thinking in writing before investing time in interviews.
3. Live Technical + Thinking Interview
   A structured discussion with a Senior Software Engineer focused on architecture thinking, technical decision-making, development standards, problem-solving, and day-to-day collaboration with engineers. This stage gives both sides a sense of technical alignment and working style.
4. Execution & Ownership Interview
   This conversation focuses on your execution skills, prioritization, ownership mindset, and leadership style. We explore how you operate in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment, and how you would lead a team while being deeply hands-on. You also have the chance to ask broader questions about culture, structure, and expectations.
5. Practical Task (Paid, Real-World Scenario)
   You will complete a practical, role-relevant task reflecting the level of thinking expected from a Head of Development. This is designed to assess your technical judgment, architectural decisions, structure, clarity, and speed of execution.
6. Final leadership interview
   You will have a final conversation with Martin, either separately or together with the hiring manager. This stage is focused on strategic alignment, leadership maturity, and mutual expectations. It also gives you the opportunity to understand the broader business direction and leadership context around the role.
7. Offer stage
   If there is mutual alignment, we move to a final discussion on scope, expectations, and key terms, followed by a formal written offer.
