Job Description

The Director of Product Design is responsible for leading the vision, strategy, and execution of user-centered design across the organization's product portfolio. This role oversees design teams, drives innovation, and ensures the delivery of intuitive, high-quality user experiences that align with business objectives and customer needs.

The ideal candidate is a strategic design leader with a strong background in product design, user experience, and team development, capable of influencing product direction at an executive level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the overall product design vision, strategy, and roadmap
  • Lead and mentor a team of product designers, UX/UI specialists, and researchers
  • Establish and maintain design standards, systems, and best practices
  • Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and marketing teams
  • Drive user-centered design processes, including research, prototyping, and usability testing
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all digital products and platforms
  • Advocate for user experience and design excellence at the leadership level
  • Oversee design reviews, feedback cycles, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Integrate data and user insights into design decisions
  • Manage design resources, budgets, and timelines effectively
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive benchmarks

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field required
  • Master's degree or advanced certifications in UX/UI or design leadership preferred

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in product design, UX/UI design, or related fields
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing design teams
  • Proven track record of delivering successful digital products and scalable design systems

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong expertise in user experience (UX), user interface (UI), and interaction design
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
  • Deep understanding of design systems, accessibility standards, and usability principles
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to balance creative vision with business and technical constraints
  • Experience working in agile or product-driven environments
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data for design decisions

Compensation

  • Annual Salary Range: $160,000 to $220,000 USD, depending on experience, Certification, and qualification
