Job Description

The Job

As an Engineering Manager based in Australia, you will be a key leadership figure responsible for leveraging technology to propel our Australian business forward. As the first software engineering manager at Omnidian Australia, this is a high-impact, high-visibility role. You will build solutions for the current business, build out a team as the business grows, and act as the bridge between our US-based technology platform, Resolv, and our Australian operations.

Your primary mission is to drive the integration and expansion of the Resolv platform within the Australian market. You will lead the technical strategy to internationalize our software, ensuring it supports the unique needs of the Australian energy landscape while maintaining the core power of our US-based innovations.

What You'll Do
At Omnidian we believe in trust and autonomy. How you create an impact is ultimately up to you. Here is an outline of some of the things you’ll be doing:
  • Strategic Integration: Drive the end-to-end integration of the Resolv technology platform with Australian-based technology and operational workflows.
  • Business Growth Catalyst: Partner with leadership to identify how technology can unlock new revenue streams and scale the Australian business efficiently.
  • Hands on development: As our first software engineer in Australia, and with only a small team planned for 2026, you will be expected to do hands-on work for at least a year.
  • Bridge the Gap: Translate complex technical roadmaps into clear, actionable business value for stakeholders, ensuring alignment between US engineering teams and Australian business objectives.
  • Software Internationalization: Lead the efforts to adapt and scale our software for international markets, addressing localization, regulatory requirements, and region-specific technical challenges.
  • Autonomous Leadership: Operate with a high degree of independence, managing technical projects and local priorities while staying deeply connected to the global engineering organization.
  • Team Advocacy: While leading technically, you will champion a strong culture fostering an environment of dignity, respect, and continuous learning.

  • Who You Are
  • A Strategic Technologist: You don’t just build software; you understand why it matters for the business. You have a proven track record of using technology to create measurable business value.
  • An Expert Communicator: You can explain "the why" behind technical decisions to non-technical partners and can influence global stakeholders across different time zones.
  • An International Navigator: You understand the nuances of internationalizing software—from handling different data standards to localizing user experiences.
  • A Self-Starter: You thrive in an environment where you are the "boots on the ground," capable of making high-stakes decisions independently while maintaining global alignment.
  • Values-Driven: You lead with integrity, not ego. You believe in rewarding results and treating everyone with dignity and respect.

  • Experience You’ll Need
  • Experience: 10+ years in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management capacity within a fast-paced, tech-enabled service environment.
  • Technical Breadth: Required is a strong background in modern software architecture, cloud platforms, and the ability to learn new technologies when needed. Preferred is experience with our current tech stack, including AWS, Kotlin and/or Java, Typescript, REST services, asynchronous messaging, SQL, Python, DataBricks, AirTable.
  • Global Mindset: Experience working with distributed teams or scaling US-based products into international markets (specifically Australia).
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in renewable energy, IoT, or asset management is a significant plus, but not required.
  • Education: B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

  • Work-Life & Culture
  • Work-Life Flexibility: Opportunities to work remotely, with 20 days of paid time off annually (accrued) and 10 days of sick leave annually (accrued).
  • Comprehensive Compensation: Competitive salary, performance bonuses, and equity stakes.
  • Culture of Growth: A collaborative environment with mentorship and opportunities for career advancement.
  • Inclusive Community: Global affinity groups, supportive policies, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
