Job Description

As the Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead the team responsible for designing, building and operating critical systems that power patient outreach at scale. These systems enable structured and agentic outreach to patients via messaging and voice modalities, ensuring timely, efficient, and effective care delivery. You will manage and grow a high-performing engineering team, set technical direction in partnership with Staff-level engineers, and ensure execution on a roadmap that spans distributed systems, AI-powered decisioning, and telephony infrastructure.

About the team: You will lead the team that owns the patient outreach platform, that combines agent-driven orchestration with robust messaging and telephony infrastructure. The team designs and runs services that coordinate outreach flows across SMS, voice and related channels, integrates with clinical and data systems, and ensures that outreach is reliable, compliant, and scalable. This team partners closely with Product, Data, and Operations to improve patient outcomes and practice efficiency.

Primary Duties:
  • Build a high performing team by hiring and nurturing engineering talent.

  • Strong technical leadership - drive technical solutioning and building roadmaps.

  • Set aggressive and clear goals and remove all roadblocks for the team to achieve them.

  • Working seamlessly and collaboratively with stakeholders across Aledade to achieve business outcomes.

  • Work closely with engineering leaders to drive engineering excellence in our processes and systems.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/BTech (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field required.

  • 10+ years of production-level experience as an engineer and technical lead building highly scalable and reliable software.

  • 5+ years of managerial experience building and leading technical engineering teams.

  • Preferred KSAs:
  • You have experience in attracting, hiring, and coaching world-class engineers including performance management.

  • You have experience in taking ownership of the technology decisions, while delegating and empowering team members.

  • You have experience communicating analysis and establishing confidence among audiences who do not share your disciplinary background or training.

  • You have strong communication and relationship building skills, with experience influencing and aligning multiple stakeholders.

  • You have a proven track record of delivering complex, cross-team initiatives end-to-end in a fast-paced environment.

  • Domain specific Preferred KSA’s:

    Patient Outreach

  • People & leadership.

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, including Staff-level ICs, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide clear expectations, feedback, and coaching, supporting career growth through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and development plans.

  • Attract and hire top talent; help shape team structure, roles, and succession planning as the platform scales.

  • Execution & delivery

  • Own end-to-end delivery of initiatives on the patient outreach roadmap, from problem definition and scoping through implementation, rollout, and ongoing optimization.

  • Drive predictable execution and prioritization, partnering with Product and cross-functional stakeholders to balance new feature work, tech debt reduction, and reliability.

  • Establish and track KPIs/SLOs related to system health, reliability, latency, and throughput for outreach flows.

  • Technical Leadership

  • Demonstrated experience managing teams that design, build and operate cloud-native, distributed systems in production.

  • Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable, and maintainable platform architectures. This includes knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Strong background with modern server-side development (e.g., Python, Java, or C#) and the ability to engage deeply in technical discussions and design reviews. Python is preferred.

  • Familiarity with streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka) and workflow / data orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, or similar).

  • Champion engineering best practices across code quality, observability, incident response, and post-incident learning.

  • Make thoughtful tradeoffs between short-term delivery and long-term platform health, and help the team do the same.

  • Experience working with systems that integrate with ML/AI models for real time inference or LLM applications is strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with modern web development (e.g, React, VueJs, Node.js) is preferred but not required.

  • Communicate plans, risks, and progress clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Extensive use of computers and keyboard. Occasional walking and lifting may be required.
