Business Development Representative (Drayage & Container Logistics)

Location: Montvale, NJ (Preferred) | Remote – Eastern Time Zone
Compensation: Base + Uncapped Commission

Due to continued growth, the company is seeking a Business Development Representative to help drive new customer acquisition and expand its presence within the drayage and container logistics markets.

Position Overview

The Business Development Representative will play a key role in generating new business opportunities by identifying prospective customers, initiating outreach, and securing meetings with qualified decision-makers.

This role is ideal for a motivated early-career sales professional who wants to build a long-term career in logistics. The position offers strong exposure to the drayage market and the opportunity to grow into larger sales or account management responsibilities over time.

The BDR will work closely with sales leadership, operations, and brokerage teams to introduce the company's drayage solutions and support early-stage customer development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify prospective customers with drayage or container transportation needs
  • Conduct outbound prospecting through phone, email, and prospecting platforms

  • Connect with decision-makers and schedule introductory sales meetings

  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects

  • Assist with rate submissions, new customer onboarding, and early-stage sales processes
  • Collaborate with internal operations and brokerage teams to align capacity and service solutions
  • Maintain accurate prospect and activity tracking within CRM systems

  • Represent the company professionally across calls, video meetings, and written communication
  • Participate in networking opportunities, industry events, and client meetings as the role evolves

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in logistics, drayage, freight brokerage, freight forwarding, or a related supply chain environment
  • Basic understanding of drayage operations and container logistics

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Professional, polished, and confident presence on phone and video calls

  • Self-motivated, resilient, and comfortable with outbound sales activity

  • Strong research and prospecting capabilities

  • Experience using CRM systems, outreach tools, and sales technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with warehousing or distribution operations

  • Experience working within freight brokerage, drayage, or logistics sales environments
  • Comfortable networking and building relationships within the logistics industry

  • High activity level and desire to grow into a larger sales role
