Job Description

Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) is a key component of Albertas long‑term vision to provide Albertans with seamless, person‑centred assisted living services across the province. Established in April 2025 and fully operational as of September 1, 2025, ALA brings together home care, community care, continuing care homes, and wrap‑around social supports into a single, modern system focused on helping Albertans live well, age in place, and access the right level of care at the right time.
As ALA advances its province‑wide operating model, the organization is entering an exciting phase of system implementation, service enhancement, and cross‑government collaboration. This work is anchored in the goals of the Assisted Living Framework, which emphasize:

Aging in place: supporting Albertans to remain safely at home and in their communities as their needs evolve.
Integrated supports: ensuring individuals receive coordinated medical, social, and community‑based services tailored to their unique circumstances.
Timely access to care: strengthening pathways that connect Albertans quickly to appropriate care options and ensure smooth transitions between settings.
A sustainable, resilient system: building a flexible, responsive sector with strong partnerships and a stable workforce.

To support this next phase of transformation, ALA is seeking a Senior Project Manager to help drive coordinated planning and execution across a diverse portfolio of strategic initiatives. This role will play a central part in supporting ALAs leadership as the organization continues to enhance programs, strengthen governance, and implement a modern, province‑wide assisted living system.
The Senior Project Manager will provide high‑level advisory, planning, and integration support, ensuring initiatives are well‑structured, aligned, and decision‑ready. Working closely with executive and operational teams, the role will help establish project governance, enable cross‑ministry consistency, and develop executive‑quality materials that translate strategic direction into clear, actionable roadmaps.
This is a senior, strategic role suited to someone with strong management consulting, project leadership, and system‑thinking capabilities. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a dynamic environment, handling sensitive and confidential material, and supporting a fast‑moving organization that is shaping a more integrated and accessible assisted living system for Albertans.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Integration & Transformation Support
Lead integration of multiple concurrent workstreams across ALA, the Ministry, and system partners.
Translate strategic direction into coherent, executable plans, milestones, and deliverables.

2. Project Planning & Execution
Develop and maintain integrated workplans and critical paths for ALAs transformation agenda.
Ensure transformation initiatives are scoped, structured, sequenced, and resourced appropriately.
Monitor progress, anticipate issues, and ensure proactive escalation and resolution.

3. Governance & Decision Making Support
Establish and operationalize governance structures (steering committees, working groups, decision logs).
Prepare high quality decision ready materials for senior executives and cross ministry partners.
Clarify roles, accountabilities, and decision rights across ALA and interdependent workstreams.

4. Executive Quality Deliverables
Produce briefings, presentations, options analyses, and implementation roadmaps aligned with executive expectations.
Synthesize complex information into clear, concise recommendations and decision supports.
Ensure alignment of key messages and deliverables across internal and external stakeholders.

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Cross Ministry Coordination
Coordinate with Ministry divisions, ALA leadership, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment.
Facilitate collaboration across ministries participating in system level transformation (e.g., Health, Seniors, Housing).
Act as a central point of integration for transformation activities.

6. Risk Identification & Mitigation
Identify transformation risks early and develop mitigation strategies.
Provide expert advice on project controls, scope discipline, quality assurance, and timeline management.
Ensure that risks related to governance gaps, unclear accountability, or fragmented planning are proactively addressed.
