Accounting Manager for a Start-up US Company

Job Description

Role & Responsibilities (What You'll Do):

● Oversee the month-end close process, implementing best practices and driving continuous improvements including reconciliations, reviews with stakeholders, and maintaining supporting documentation, and ensuring timely completion

● Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP

● Manage the annual financial audit process, ensuring timely completion and addressing audit findings

● Develop and maintain robust internal controls

● Prepare and review key financial reports - P&L, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows, and internal reporting packages, including ad-hoc reporting

● Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions

● Interact with and maintain relationships with customers for purposes of invoicing and reporting and ability to handle different instructions for different customers

● Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and identify areas for improvement

● Support the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts, monitoring budget-to-actual variances

● Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial operations

● Act as a liaison between accounting and other departments, and externally, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and supporting various projects including obtaining information necessary for monthly close and other reporting

Skills & Qualifications: (What You’ll Need)

● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred

● 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience

● Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience with accounting guidance (e.g., ASC 842, ASC 606, ASC718, ASC350-40 )

● Experience in financial reporting and SOX compliance within a publicly traded company preferred

● Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Financial Edge)

● Advanced Excel skills, and experience with financial systems implementations and leveraging new technologies

● Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with excellent attention to detail

● Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

● Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization

● Strong leadership skills and experience in developing and mentoring team members

● Experience closing the books in a timely manner and maintaining different schedules (prepaids, fixed assets, software capitalization, deferred revenue, etc.)

● Ability to resolve discrepancies and reconciliation differences in reporting

● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, growth-oriented, and remote environment

● Experience with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting preferred
