Engineering Manager - Healthcare AI
Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager with Healthcare AI experience to lead and scale a cross-functional engineering team comprising Developers, QA Engineers, and Data Engineers.
This role requires a strong technical leader who understands AI-driven healthcare platforms, clinical workflows, integrations with health systems, and enterprise SaaS environments. You will drive architecture, integrations, AI-powered product development, and large-scale implementations while actively contributing to design and engineering decisions.
The ideal candidate blends people leadership with deep technical expertise in healthcare AI systems capable of mentoring engineers, improving delivery velocity, and personally contributing to complex AI-driven integrations and deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Developers, QA Engineers, and Data Engineers
- Drive sprint planning, delivery tracking, and engineering best practices
- Conduct performance reviews, hiring, and team development
- Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and high ownership
- Ensure cross-functional alignment with Product, AI, Operations, and Leadership
Healthcare AI & Technical Execution
- Design scalable system architecture for AI-powered healthcare products
- Contribute hands-on to development of complex features, integrations, and AI workflows
- Lead API integrations with EHR/EMR systems, third-party SaaS tools, and healthcare platforms
- Oversee deployment of AI-driven solutions (voice AI, automation, analytics, orchestration)
- Ensure secure, compliant data handling aligned with healthcare standards
- Optimize performance for AI pipelines and real-time systems
- Troubleshoot high-impact production issues
Integrations & Implementation
- Drive enterprise healthcare customer implementations
- Oversee integration with clinical systems (FHIR, HL7, APIs, webhooks, data syncs)
- Partner with US-based clients during implementation cycles
- Ensure high reliability in external system integrations
- Manage release planning and deployment risk mitigation
Engineering Operations
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and DevOps collaboration
- Establish QA automation standards
- Enforce architecture governance and documentation standards
- Ensure data integrity, system security, and scalability
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years in engineering leadership or team management
- Strong hands-on coding experience (Node.js, Python, Java, .NET, or similar)
- Direct experience building Healthcare AI, clinical AI, or AI-driven SaaS platforms
- Experience integrating with healthcare systems (EHR/EMR, HL7, FHIR, APIs)
- Strong experience in enterprise API integrations and third-party implementations
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
- Understanding of data engineering concepts (ETL, pipelines, warehousing)
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Highly Preferred
- Experience in Healthcare AI, Voice AI, Clinical Decision Support, or Automation platforms
- Experience building AI-powered SaaS products serving health systems
- Exposure to HIPAA-compliant environments
- Experience scaling engineering teams in growth-stage startups
- Experience working with US healthcare clients
- Exposure to data platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
