Senior Hybrid Cloud / DevOps Engineer

Job Description

Company: An international engineering firm developing innovative utility-scale energy storage solutions and grid stability systems for the UK market.

Product: A high-load hybrid platform (AWS + On-prem) managing energy storage systems, trading operations, and ML models. The infrastructure is a mission-critical component of the business, evolving continuously alongside the product.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and evolve the hybrid environment (bridging AWS and On-prem resources).
• Maintain and scale PostgreSQL databases, Kafka clusters, and data pipelines ("data grabbers").
• Support High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments for ML modeling.
• Advance Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK (TypeScript) and automation via Ansible/Bash.
• Manage access control (IAM, Cloud & On-prem users) and implement security best practices across the hybrid environment.
• Develop and promote a self-service DevOps model for the development teams.

Requirements

• Proven experience with hybrid environments (AWS + local data centers).
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes (preferably AWS EKS).
• Strong proficiency in IaC tools (CDK, Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation).
• Experience administering PostgreSQL and Kafka in high-load systems.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (TypeScript is preferred; Python or others are acceptable if you are willing to learn TS).
• Linux Power User status and a solid understanding of networking protocols.
• A proactive mindset: readiness to take full ownership of results and a commitment to continuous learning.
• Agentic AI Coding Experience: Hands-on experience using Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar AI-driven development tools.
